Doubling Up On SD Card

Albums and individual songs. How do I fix this issue?

For some reason, when the card is in the card, it will have 2 of each. WTF?

Re: Doubling Up On SD Card

I had that happen. What happens if you lock the SD card (little lever on the side) ? It should in theory prevent the creation of duplicates but can you still play music?

Re: Doubling Up On SD Card

There is another whole thread on this. 2014 Duplicate Songs on SD

I don't believe that there are any duplicate songs "on the card" - it's a problem with the Jeep console; it gets confused and it's internal index of songs gets messed up.

I have had this happen periodically. It just happened last week. My USB stick and my SD card showed duplicate albums and songs.

It can be a problem to remove. My best luck has been to delete all songs on the Card or Stick - to reformat the Card or Stick - to reload the songs - and to add additional songs. I had to do this twice to get the USB stick to stop showing duplicates. After 2 tries on the SD card, I still have duplicate albums. Prior to this, I saved the Card songs on my computer and reloaded them after formatting the card. The next time I am going to format the card and load songs from my computer from scratch.

Re: Doubling Up On SD Card

You know what. The card is locked, but I can still load files onto the card without issue, at least on the computer. I haven't pulled the card from the car yet to inspect if anything got loaded up on it.

I didn't have this issue for the first couple of weeks using the SD card. It wasn't until I noticed songs were being repeated and I was like, wtf??!?!? Then I looked at the track list and saw the duplication.

I don't think it's a bad quality card. It's a Sony 32GB Class 10 card. I'll try formatting the card again and reload. It would suck if I have to do this every few weeks....

For what it's worth it's not possible for the card to be locked AND you can still load songs onto it with the computer IF the lock is working properly. It's the entire purpose of the lock, to prevent anything whatsoever from being written to the card intentionally or otherwise.

Re: Doubling Up On SD Card

Could be a problem with folder structure. If songs are duplicated in more than one folder, could cause duplicate song listings. The more cross referencing of songs in folders, the more chance of duplicates.

Exactly what jacko15 said.....the flatter your structure the better....it is best for no dups and speed of card read/load to have no folders just songs and be sure when you rip the songs tags have the artist/ablum/song fields populated and then browse the card after initial load by sorting by artist then by folder and everything should be ready to rock...

Maybe that's my issue. I have what I thought was organized.

Folder for each artist.
Then in that folder, I'll have a folder for each album.

Still, you would think it'll be able to organize it properly....

Yeah, I'm not sure what's the deal with the "lock" on the card.

I have a folder for each album with the folder name starting with the artist, then the album name. That's the total of my folder structure. All of my music is tagged with the info that Windows Media Player downloads. I get album art and song titles, along with album name and artist displayed on my screen. So far, no duplicate song titles.

So it's like

-Bob-1st Album
-Bob-2nd Album

And so on?

I browsed through the files while in the vehicle, it appears not every song is duplicated. Just most of them. Almost all of the albums are dups though. I don't get it.

What's a good program to use to make sure all the track info is good?

Re: Doubling Up On SD Card

Hmmm, I just connected the card to my computer, Win7. Anyways, I get a popup saying there's errors on the card and recommends trying to fix these errors. But when I do, it says to look in the "Found" folder to find the errors. No folder. Weird....
