Cool Even/Uneven band radio stations

Hello Friends,

Anyone knows how to set a radio of a G.C- Lerado 2011-X (U.S version) media center,
to search radio frequnecies in even numbers rather than uneven ones ?
In order to find radio stations in a European zone.

For example:
100.0, 100.2, 100.4 etc. instead of 100.1, 100.3, 100.5

Re: Even/Uneven band radio stations

Interesting question. Though the media center is looking through the whole frequenz band and just picks the signal where its the strongest... no matter if even or uneven?

Re: Even/Uneven band radio stations

Thanks for replying.
I will try to shed more light.
The up and down radio search buttons apply incremenets of 0.2 Mhz. while the initial frequency value is always uneven.
This means that no matter what, you will always be found in an uneven frequnecy.
Bands in my country are found only in even frequencies which means I can never reach them in optimum frequnecy signal.
Thus, I need to shift the frequencies somehow by 0.1 Mhz and then it will keep staying in the even numbers.
I know many in dash media centers (e.g: Alphine, Pioneer etc) which do have two frequnecy zones, one in the uneven Mhz numbers like in the US and one in the even zone for Europe.

The circuitry to do that would be expensive. Radios designed for North America will only look for FM signals at odd frequencies. There's probably an internal configuration that would adjust this, but it's probably buried in the radio firmware where we can't get to it.

Re: Even/Uneven band radio stations

I dunno for sure but the country specific radio tunes to the right odd/even offset. I think the OP question is more about how to switch countries short of swapping the radio out.

The finer (0.1 MHz) tuning is a function of the fq synthesizer's resolution. 200 kHz tuning is cheaper to make, but not by much.

Where is your country, and did you purchase it from an authorized Jeep dealer in your country?

In any event, contact Chrysler International. Best guess is that the rig will actually tune in 100 kHz increments, and the selection lies in a software setting or, less likely, an internal DIP switch.

If you are making aliyah or returning after an overseas stay, hopefully it gets in sans the usual steep tariffs. (Well, they used to be steep, but maybe that has changed.) Mazel tov!

Re: Even/Uneven band radio stations

Ye, The taxes are quite high here, it actually doubles the car cost.
If I was a US resident, not sure I would have done Aliya.
I am an Israeli resident but it seems that importing a car from the US costs about 20-30% less than to get it from the official local dealer.

Re: Even/Uneven band radio stations

If I recall correctly, and this goes back some years, any Israeli could go yored for X years, then if he returned take back one car tax free. Yet, if he had stayed in Israel he would be stuck with the tariffs you cite. Supposedly this absurdity has to do with preserving foreign exchange for security purchases, but in 2011 that seems like a dubious claim.

Whatever, hope you find readily available parts and a great mechanic. There used to be some clever guys from places like Poland who kept ancient vehicles rolling in Israel. But with all the sophisticated electronics and such, they probably can't be of much help with your Grand Cherokee.

Is it allowed to go offroading on the sand in the Negev?

Re: Even/Uneven band radio stations

There's a new trend for some years now, for Israeli's to buy cars from abroad bypassing the official local dealer. Local Israeli car trading companies have cousins or other relatives in North America offering cars for them from auctions. It seems from an unknown reason for me, that there are suspiciously too many GC 2011 out there for the second hand US market between 3000-10000 miles.
I am dealing with such a company, they will import 2 Lerado X 2011 for me and my associate colleague.
About what you wrote,
The Negev offers many offroad routes and for the second issue, the US and Israel government have agreed on lower taxes for US made cars as an incentive to strengthen US economy, same with the funds for security purposes, where Israeli security companies can use Dollar funds to by US goods as long as they are manufactured in the US.
May I ask, from where you've got all those hebrew words in your vocabulary ?

Re: Even/Uneven band radio stations

Had a couple of Israeli government agencies as major clients for several years during the cold war. Lousy money, but the most interesting work I've ever done and fantastic colleagues to work with who were exceptionally open to trying new ideas.
