Greetings,

All of the tweeters, mid range and mid bass drivers are 4 ohms. Only the sub is 2 ohms setup.

Best for now.

Re: Factory Speaker Impedance

Not certain I'm completely convinced that the sub (at least from a 2012 JGC) is dual 2ohm voice coils. I keep getting close to 4ohms using two different voltmeters and testing on known 2 and 4 ohm speakers i have.
It may be in a 2015, but i dont have one to test.

1stJeepGC - First let me thank you for all your help in various threads. You have been a big help to me planning my system.

I am thinking about connecting a 4 channel amp (Alpine PDX-F6) to the factory speakers until I have the funds to replace them with what I want.

I have two questions:

1) I am concerned about the resistance of the speakers matching because I plan to wire the tweeter and the 6x9 woofer to one channel. Can you help me understand if this is OK and how to wire it? Based on what you are saying above if I wire the tweeter and the woofer in parallel the amp should see a resistance of 4/2=2ohms. Will this be a problem if I then wire the rear door speaker to one channel resulting in a 4 ohm load? That will mean I have the two front channels on the amp seeing 2 ohms and the two rear channels seeing 4 ohms. Is this bad for the amp? Is there another way to connect the aftermarket amp to those speakers?

2) Do you know how the OE tweeters and woofers get crossed over? Is the factory amp separating the frequencies or is there a physical crossover somewhere?

All I really need to know is how you recommend wiring the Alpine amp to the factory speakers. Any ideas or thoughts would be much appreciated.

***Note - I have the 2011 Overland with the 9 speakers + sub

THANKS DUDE!

I think it worth the read.

Best for now.
