What bearing does that have on anything?

Does anyone know the maximum depth for the front and rear speakers with the window rolled all the way down? Window may or may not come into play but it does in some cars.

Windows do not come into play, at least up front anyways. There's a steel pillar right behind the speaker that would prevent putting a too deep speaker in.

So after having these focal speakers can anyone chime in how they now sound after the break in period and with various forms of music?

Focals ISS 690, ISC 165 & Polk db351 install tutorial with pics

I just recently went back to the stock Alpine center speaker. The polk was a bit too bright for my taste. I can now leave the balance centered and not faded to the rear to compensate.

Focals ISS 690, ISC 165 & Polk db351 install tutorial with pics

In the end I went with the JL TR350cxi evolution, it's not as bright as the polk 351, tried the polk as well which offers more center bias.
The focals 690's as main sound great, but quality of those speakers leaves room for improvent, 1st set had a "paper loose" sound on one of them. Overall the fronts and center make a nice upgrade

Have 1x JL TR350 avail if any takers

Sitting on the fence for the rears right now but leaning towards thunder52

Just blown one of my ISS 690 tweeters. For those of you who did not like them and swapped for a softer tweeter would you be willing to sell?

I still have mine. Used very little before moving to the Alpine Type R's. I was going to put them on e-bay, but never got around to it. I'll sell them both for $60 with shipping with the US. PM if interested. PayPal ready.

Re: Focals ISS 690, ISC 165 & Polk db351 install tutorial with pics

Guys Focal tweeters are FAR too bright to just drop in any system. You need an active crossover or a good DSP to not die from the harshness. I bought a brand new set for $150 and regret it. I just put them in yesterday and they're horrible.

The factory everything uses silk tweeters. If you want a damn good set of 6x9 components you should go with CDT. I knew I should have right from the start. Their SatNet passive crossovers are amazing. Their HD 8 Sub is amazing. Just go with their entire carbon line and you'll love life without ear bleed.

FYI I have a spare 3.5 Polk 351 and adapter if anyone needs it

Do you think if you add a crossover to the focals that they would get better over time?

Absolutely not. You don't add a crossover to a system already using a crossover. You'll lose power and ruin the sound immediately.

People haven't heard of CDT because they're not a mainstream company found in best buy or advertising all over the place. Their reputation for sound quality speaks for itself.

I ran their 3 way CL setup in the rear deck of my 300 and 2 way CL in the front with SatNet 450s controlling the front. The sound was bliss after time alignment.

If you want a speaker like focal you need to either piggyback the factory processor(wrong way) or use something like JL CleanSweep and send a real signal to external amps(right way). Or you can integrate something like a bit one. Point is to do it right it's $$$.

I'll be keeping my focal setup, reinforcing the factory sub box big time, adding a CDT HD 8 and probably a JL Xd300 so I can control the sub because I don't want to tear the hell out of my new jeep just yet
