Greetings,

Behind each speaker the Dynamat was used to make a baffle. It was about that the size you wanted.

You are looking at the HAT L6SE.

Best for now.

Is there any way the car warranty can be void by installing a second amp like this?Alpine PDX-V9 5-channel car amplifier — 100 watts RMS x 4 + 500 watts RMS x 1 at Crutchfield.com
Will that be to much power draw for the alternator?

Greetings,

Unless the shop that did the install did something really stupid, then I do not see how they can void the warranty for the audio systems. You are protected by a federal law know as the Magnuson-Moss Act. Here is a summary of the act and links for further details:

Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Alpine amp is based on Class D technology which has an efficient draw of amperage. Class D amps are the best to use with the JGC.

Best for now.

Ok great, I went with the Alpine PDR-V75 - 550W RMS 5-Channel Amplifier, Can't wait to hear results. It should be ready late this afternoon. Thanks very much for all the help!

Re: Focals ISS 690, ISC 165 & Polk db351 install tutorial with pics

I don't think that shop knows what they are doing. An amp isn't going to help at all, unless you have a full-range signal feeding it. A full-range signal does not exist. You will now have spent and additional >$500, and be even more disappointed. You'll need a DSP, or summing device in front of that amp.

Plus, $150 to install those speakers, is robbery. They don't have external cross-overs. They didn't run new wire. They are basically drop-in. DIY. The pics and instructions in this thread are more than adequate to DIY. If they charged you $150 to install drop-in speakers, I can only imagine how much the amp install will be. That's where it gets fun.

They did install a summing device. Sound is much more improved now.

Very happy with the results. Ended up switching the Alpine for this: JL Audio XD700/5v2 5-channel car amplifier — 75 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms + 300 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms at Crutchfield.com

I don't mind paying extra for a well done job. Thank you all!

^Good deal. Did they use AudioControl for summing? Very nice amp.

Re: Focals ISS 690, ISC 165 & Polk db351 install tutorial with pics

I ended up removing the Focals since I was not happy with the metal tweters sound.

My new setup:

Speakers

Front door: Alpine SPR-60C http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SPR5...e-SPR-50C.html
Back door: Alpine SPR-60
Amp: JL Audio XD700/5v2
Summing Device: PDLC81 http://www.abt.com/product/71775/PAC-Audio-PDLC81.html
Sub: JL Audio CP110LG-TW1 http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1369332...110LG-TW1.html

Very happy with the quality! These Alpines sound way better than the Focals.

Greetings,

I am glad everything worked out for you.

If Alpine was allowed to build this correctly without the ridiculous specifications from Fiat/Chrysler, at least the speakers would sound much better.

Best for now.

Cub_Overland - do you still have fader/balance and EQ control from your head unit? Or do you have to do all adjustments on the Pac summing device?

Also, did you ditch the center channel speaker?

Thanks!

I haven't changed the front speaker yet. Looking for someone that want to split the cost since you have to buy a pair. Lol!

All fader/balance and EQ control is done from your head unit (same way than before. I did added a sub volume button since different music sources change bass intensity.

Re: Focals ISS 690, ISC 165 & Polk db351 install tutorial with pics

Now you have me really tempted to go this route. I looked up the manual to the PAC, and looks like you can run the inputs several different blended ways. Any chance you know which outputs were summed? I'm guessing it's like example 3 at this link.
http://www.pac-audio.com/PACProductD...structions.pdf

Only problem there is I read the stock sub output only sends 55hz and below. That means the fronts would have to pull all the way down to 55hz to prevent a gap.

Any info is appreciated. Damn, went from just wanting to replace my center channel to wanting a full install. Stupid forums.
