Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

If you can do without it long enough they will get down to $25 for six months. I get a mailing every week or so and they gradually made it to $25. I have never renewed it and don't intend to.

I won't be renewing and it expires in a few days. Their channel's got worse ever since the merge with XM. Music is not good enough and neither is talk. And they took away my lifetime paid internet when I traded in my '05.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

I've had XM a few years now, and my wife has had it since she got her accord in 06. We ended up under a friends family plan. It was great, I think $90 a car 1 year, $60 a car the next year, the last time around it was $30 a car for the year. Recently they all stopped working. Called to find out what happened, and apparently the "trial" subscription was over. I am guessing my friend finagled the 25 for 6 months and it just never turned off that soon. Since all units were in his name there was no notification to us as the subscription was going to end etc. I left it alone a bit, and frankly I am tired of regular FM as I was listening XM everytime I was in the car. I decided to call yesterday and see what they could offer. I was told $25 for 6 months for each unit, and they will waive the $15 reactivation fees on both of my units. And after 6 months will automatically renew at $14 a month for each unit. I have read all the posts about calling them up looking to cancel, and they will offer a better price. Debating doing the dance with them. And I will not be giving them CC info to auto-renew. Thank you everyone that posted about asking for a statement and paying by check

The deals are out there!

I have no credit card on file with Sirius - this is important, otherwise they will just renew you at whatever rate they want.

I had 5 month for $25 for total of $27.44 (no invoice fees, $2.44 probably were music royalty fees but I don't have that part of the bill to confirm). It recently expired (radio was still working) and I received a new invoice for $36.72 (total) for 3 months. I called back and said I want the same deal I had before or else I want to cancel. CSR said that deal is no longer available and if I want to be transferred to cancellation department. I said yes and repeated to another CSR in cancellation dept. that I would keep the service for the same price I had before. She worked some magic and made it happen.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

Sirius called me today and offered me $158.00 for a year. I told them that they just offered me $95 plus tax and fees just last week. They came back and then offered the same $95 deal. I said I turned it down last week and what made them think I would take the same deal I just turned down. I offered $75 for a year and they said no so I said no thanks. They need to price thier product better and stop playing these games with the customers.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

I let my subscription to Sirius lapse after the free year. I did miss the navigation a bit, and decided to call and see what was offered if I came back. Signed up for both the music and navigation. After a day or two, I realized that the sound quality seems worse than it ever was.

I'm not sure how Sirius can continue to offer such an abysmal stream rate on their music. Just mind boggling. I ended up cancelling the music subscription but kept the traffic separately with no problem. Too bad. They do have a good amount of content.

It's been a few months since my Sirius services lapsed. No more snail mail from them and they never tried to contact me by phone. Last time I talked with them, they refused to give me the old $75 rate. Oh well, I have my HD max'd out with music.

How much are you paying for Traffic by itself?

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

They called a lot and I finally answered. Offer was $30.00 for 6 months for just the music/talk (not traffic or travel link). They seemed shocked that I had all of that free for a year. Anyway, I told them my parents neighbors just got music/talk for $24.99 for 6 months (which is true), and I asked about traffic but that was another $30, and travel link is $1.99 a month. With tax and fees I got the music/talk for 6 months for $29.36. I used my debit card but had them enter it as a credit card and I specified to have them set it up to not be charged in 6 months but instead to send me a bill for the renewal (which costs $2 except no cost in some states), but I'll just call and cancel the day before it expires so they won't send a renewal bill or that extra $2 charge.

I just got an offer in the mail for $25 for five months. That is the best rate I have seen. I still have a month left so I was surprised by the lower offer already. With my last vehicle I had to let my subscription expire before they even budged from the full price. It doesn't include the Travellink info but my iPhone does that just fine, plus displays gas prices on a MAP so I can pick a station on my route. I'll probably renew for the $5/mo just so I don't need to stream Pandora all the time.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

They made all manner of offers for a contract running no more than a few months. But that means having to go back to haggle two, three or four times a year.

Instead, we settled on $83.45 for one year, including tax and fees. I really didn't want to go over $75, but that was close enough. (Actually, it was $75 plus fees and tax, as I recall, but that's just numbers games like the airlines play.)

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

I did not want to fool around with that $25 deal (5 months - 3 months "free") and have to extend it again in 5 months. So I told them I heard they had the $85/year deal. They gave it to me with no questions, and agreed to extend it for another year for the same $85 when it expires (she said she added a comment on my file). I did also extend the Travel Link for the additional $1.99/month. The total with fees and taxes for everything was $133. I am OK with that. I gave them a credit card number that expires in less than 1 year, so they will not be able to renew it without my permission anyway. I was on the phone for less than 5 minutes, and did not want to spend any more of my time with a "supervisor" or the "cancellation department" to try to get another $5 or $10 off.
