Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

I waited for a few weeks after my trial subscription expired before renewing, so that I could get the best pricing. I really only wanted the SiriusXM Traffic, so I signed up for six months of SiriusXM Select and SiriusXM Traffic. Like silvercls, I declined to give the phone rep my credit card information, because I don't want my subscription to automatically renew at full price. However, the rep credited me $2.00 for the invoice fee. I paid $50.40 total.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

Anybody renewed recently? People mentioned 6 months for $25 some time ago. My 5 month/$25 (total $27.xx) deal is about to expire.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

I have still not renewed but got into a lengthy conversation with one of their sales people the other day. She tried to sign me up for 6 months free and the reamining 6 months at normal price plus the $2 for them sending a bill rather than putting it on credit card. Sounded good at first but even without the credit card and just getting straight billing you are still agreeing for them to keep billing you after the year is up and you have to call them to unsubscribe. If you don't pay the new yearly subscription and fail to call and cancel with them then they will send a collection agency after you. I told them I would do the deal for one year and one year only and I will decide if I want to renew and call them when the year is up. She said she couldn't do that so I said I don't want your product. Funny thing is that it has been over a month since the service was supposed to be cancelled and I still have it. I like the sirius but I don't like it that well. The music/talk/sports selection is great but the sound quality on mine is not that great.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

Sirius/XM has a business model of nickle and diming their customers any way they can think to do it. I admit the service itself is quite nice, but doing business with them feels like a part time job, and is a pain in the a**. Why don't they just find a fair price point and do business in a straight forward manner? Haggling with them, and trying to avoid extra charges is just medieval.

Exactly. When I went for the 6 month for $25 deal I told the rep the same thing. They have the product priced too high and would get a lot more subscribers if they were priced correctly. They still have to put out the signal reguardless how many subscribe. I told the rep what is better, 1 million subscribers at $170 a year or 10 million at $75 per year. She agreed but still couldn't do anything for me beyond the 6 month deal. So in 6 months I will cancel.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

On my previous Jeep, I let my Sirius trial subscription expire. That was last July. After that, their phone calls were incessant to the point where I told them several times to stop calling me (this time around I wised up and gave my Google Voice phone number when I bought my WK2). They still send me letters, but I don't know what they're offering because the letters go from the mailbox straight to the shredder.

Sirius is a service that isn't worth paying for, imho. It's nice to listen to CNN on the way home from work, and it's nice when traveling because I don't have to find new radio stations every XX miles, but that's where it ends. Their channels are organized horribly. There are multiple channels for single genres, and they play oddball songs that I feel don't belong on the channel and don't really match the genre. I could be listening to Richard Petty on a classic rock channel and then next thing they'll play on that same channel is some weird heavily-synthesized pop song.

Before my trial subscription, I thought Sirius was the service that is less talk and more music, but the DJ's on Sirius still jabber on about useless junk and advertise other Sirius channels, and the DJ's don't even have good personalities.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

I was just offered audio-only for 12-months for $50. TravelLink was about $2 more per month, and Sirius over internet was $3.50/month (billed for an entire year in advance). I accepted the $50 plan. I suppose I will have to get a new debit card at the end of the year, to avoid the auto-renewal (which I specifically requested be removed from my account).

They won't switch it to another vehicle though.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

My problem is that the Sirius connection is tied to a particular radio and not to me wherever I am or whatver car I am driving. Frankly my tablet or smart phone and a few flash drives provide all of the music I need and work through the AUX jack.

Maybe not next year but soon all a car will provide is amp, speakers, an aux jack, and a dock.

What was the total price (with taxes/fees)?
