i just got my '15 jgc and was told i got a year of sirius with the vehicle. i got an e-mail from sirius telling me about my 2 months trial (and the e-mail source was legit) so i did click that link, but anyway, i then registered my actual jgc radio and it now says i have the year plus FIVE years on traffic and travel link (weather, gas, etc.) which is good! maybe this is all standard... i guess so.

not sure if i'll renew the audio after a year... the audio quality is awful, there's too many annoying commercials on the talk stations and for music i'd rather just use the 64GB SD Card i stuffed in the dash. plus, i'm REALLY liking HD radio (GREAT quality).

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

I kept getting mailings for 5 months for $20 on my 2 Jeep GCs and my GMC Sierra. I finally called and activated all 3 radios for $20 each, all on one account, and had them bill me by mail for $2. Paid them with a Postal Money Order for $70 & change with taxes, royalties, and invoice by mail charge. I guess in August I will find out if having 3 radios on the account will give me any negotiating leverage. I normally wouldn't have done it but the wife likes the oldies stations and I listen to talk radio on long drives.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

I've had Sirius for 4 or 5 years in my cars and I also have it in my office. I enjoy channel 82, old radio serials. And yes, they have commercials but most all of the music channels are commercial free. The office radio is portable and I have a docking station to put in Herman so once it warms up, I'll install it. And you never get tired of it. I find new stations to listen to all the time. Great investment.

Later!

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

I cancelled both subscriptions . . . I got tired of the crappy sound quality for a ridiculous $20 a month! They are crooks! So, I loaded up my 32g SD card and I couldn't be happier! Goodbye Sirius!

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

My trial is up in a couple weeks and so is the trial on my wife's car. Got a mailer for something around 70 for 6 months. Not interested in paying anywhere near that per radio. If I can get a year for that price I'll do it again but I can't justify that price and I barely listen to it anyway, but might have to ante up for the wife so she stays happy haha.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

Negotiate with them, even if you have to let it lapse. I get them for around $6.00 per radio/month. As far as the actual sound, it can only be as good as your speakers. My Fusion sounds as good when I am listening to Sirius as it does in FM.

Later!

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

I quit paying for Sirius traffic and never looked back. I use the Waze app when I'm on a road and need traffic info; it's real time and you can tell exactly what's going on all around you. Plus it gives you audible warning through the car's speakers of any po-po that you may be about to encounter. Cheaper and more effective than a radar detector for that purpose. It's the CB radio of the 21st century (for those old-timers who remember CB in its heyday of the 70s).

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

My trial is up 4/10 and I will not renew. Decided during our trip thru New England last fall when it was cutting out more than the radio stations. The sound quality is also really poor. When switching between radio and Sirius, the volume has to be increased when on Sirius. Never use the traffic or other features. It certainly will not be missed. Next to go are the NAV updates, unless by some miracle they choose not to charge for this upcoming 3 year mega-update.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

What's the latest and cheapest deal for satellite radio? I may just pick it up without traffic just to have a little variety at a very low cost.
