Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

Well I got the "Call" from Sirius

First they offered the Music and traffic for $175/yr + taxes and fees
I declined that offer. Then they offered the $75/yr with taxes and fees for radio and traffic. I declined that as well. Then they asked me what would it take to get me to renew. I told them I commit to radio and traffic for $40/yr for 3 years including taxes and fees. Haven't heard back from them since. If I am driving around 6K /yr it just doesn't add up for me to pay any more. We'll see if they call back....

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

After i received numerous renewal letters and 2 calls from Sirus to renew the trial period i declined all of them. On Friday i got a call and they offered me $27/6 months without travel link and i took it.

How much were the earlier offers? What does the rate go to after the $27/6 month period? Thanks.

The earlier offers i was getting were as below:
$12.95/month
$38.85/3 monts
$142.45/ year

I will be notified a month before 6 month period ends, and it will be upto me if i want to renew after that or not. Rate will be whatever current rate would be at that time.

Thanks

Just a heads up, I got my renewal notice and after the online website crapped out a few times, i called he number on the renewal notice.

Spoke with a very nice person, explained my frustration with their website and he offered me $85 for the full year +taxes. I think i ended up paying around $98 for a full year renewal.

I waited until my trial expired and then resigned up when they offered a year with six months free. A total of $89 with fees.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

The one thing that drives me crazy with Sirius is the compression in the audio. If they could increase the quality I might consider renewing.

Sounds good, but I'm always careful to NOT find myself in an auto renewal situation. The first time I ran into that financial Buz Saw was with AOL probably 15+ years ago. I'll never let THAT happen ever again.

What can you really do to prevent auto-renewal? From the horror stories reported here it seems Sirius will try to charge your credit card a year later no matter what.

I thought of using one of "virtual" credit card numbers that my bank offers. You can specify maximum balance and expiration date (minimum is 2 month from the day number is issued). But still nothing can prevent them to try to charge it again (they wouldn't know this is a virtual card and most of the cards renew with the same number) and then try to stick you with the bill when charge wouldn't go through.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

Is there an annual billing option rather than using credit card and becoming a victim of auto-renewal?
