Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

Just got the call for renawal and told them I was not interested and wanted to let it expire - almost immediately they offered the $75 for 1 Year deal so I went with it. I think that's a fair price considering no commercials and the audio quality.

What does the subscription include? Is it just one fee for all the services, or could you only sign up for certain parts?

I believe the $75 price is just for the basic Sirius station package. Travel Link and Traffic are add-ons. They are all negotiable.

So there are three parts? Thanks, not sure what all there was.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

I'll wait and see what I get when my year is up. I also have a Sirius reciever in my wifes car, something like $15/mo. I pay it quarterly. Honestly though, I'll probably keep it anyway because we travel alot and I hate station searching and commercials...the reasons we bought the first reciever.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

My free year is almost up so we'll see what the offers are now.

With my previous car I would either get $20 for 5 months or $25 for 6 months or maybe $25 for 5 moths. Or something like that, can't remember. It would auto renew at the regular monthly rate, but I would always call and "cancel" before then and they would offer the same type of deal.

Their traffic is no better or worse than other traffic services, nearly always wrong. So if you are listening to local radio for traffic updates and news, why bother with Sat radio.

If you do sign up, do not opt for the auto renewal. The most consumer complaints seems to be that it its almost impossible to cancel. You call, they transfer you to an retention agent, you are either on hold for an hour or the call gets dropped.... really bad customer service, except for those times you are buying something...
I have had Sirius subscription for about 7 years (on auto renewal). When I picked up my Jeep, I called to cancel my subscription (since I got a free year). It took all of 5 mins. I was on hold for 2 mins tops, and then another 2 to cancel. I DID NOT give them the SID fro my new receiver. Told them I'd call back when the free subscription was expired. I may have gotten lucky, who knows. AS for the programming, I have always loved the music. I can't stand having to search for FM stations as they come in and out of range. SOund quality varies depending on the station. More popular stations have better sound quality. I would assume they use more band with or something. I moslty listen to classic rock. I love classic rewind, vinyl, and lithium. I hate to admit it, but I also listen to the coffee house from time time, then pop over to the boneyard to regain my man status. Oh, Hair nation is cool too. And, Alt Nation... and Octane.

I originally got Sirius for Howard, but I go through phases with him. Right now, he's out... I don't care about America's got talent!

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

Has anyone tried to get the A La Carte package or is that not possible with the radio in the GC?

We've been ignoring the letters so far...subscription expires at the end of the month.

We find that we do listen to it but I let the subscription lapse on my Volvo a few years ago and while nice to have it really isn't needed. If some great deal comes along that we can get for both receivers I may be temped but we listen to a handful of music and news stations so there are a ton of stations we really don't care about. Guess that's not unlike our TV service...

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

Just renewed my subscription. Called them and told them that they are too overpriced on the "Select" package. Rep camp back with how's $25.99 (plus taxes) for 6 months? I said that's more like it as long as you can send me a bill in the mail so I can send you a check. If you give them a card # over the phone, it will set you up on their cursed auto renew.

This deal is still available - I just got it too. Didn't even have to stay on hold. Just be polite with CSR and tell him/her this is what you want.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

25.99 for 6 mOnths is no bargain. They hit my cc for 184. on my malibu. I called and told them to cancel. They offered me 150. I told them there was no way I would pay anything near that just for a radio. They then offered 84. for a year which I accepted. There is no way I will pay close to 200. for their service, period.

Re: Free Sirius almost over, are you going to renew?

Biggest thing with them is to make certain they do not set you up with auto renew. Whenever I renew my subscriptions, I always ask them to send me a bill and once I recieve it, I'll send them a check. Don't want my card in their system...
