Question Front Camera

Has anyone installed a front camera with maybe an A/B switch ?? And is there a way to have the camera turn on when ever you would like ??? Via toggle ??

I installed a front camera in my 12' GC and am able to view it through the MyGig Lockpick.

Pretty good unit lets you enter NAV while driving, add cameras, watch DVDs while driving, etc

I bought the license plate camera from them as well and it has good picture and works very well.

Re: Front Camera

That's what I bought, have not gotten to installing it yet, mine is for the rear backup camera though but I like the option to add more, 2? I'm not sure.

Re: Front Camera

What I was thinking would work well is a system that would turn on when placed in "I" or something. When that transmission mode is selected, it would then trigger a relay allowing the front camera signal to pass through the reverse camera input (a simple bosch type relay could work for this). Then you would have to diode isolate the reverse input lead on the HU, and have that be an input to it.

Basically, you'd put it in reverse and everything would function like normal. You put it in "I" and the front camera could come on in place of the reverse camera. Certainly a lot more integrated than it automatically coming on if you're under 5mph (wouldn't come on in traffic, etc.), and not super difficult to do.

If/when I replace my Jeep with a Corvette, that's what I'm intending to do.
