Gps vehicle icon

on the 730 RHR 2012 GC is there any way to change the vehicle icon on the GPS from an arrow to say an suv??
Also, when you turn off GPS with thr "radio" on-off button or just turn off the ignition.... upon restarting the vehicle , does it alway default back to the radio.....?

Re: Gps vehicle icon

I would like to see a smaller vehicle icon but I don't think thee is a way to change it. the radio/nav should return to the last feature you were using when it was shut off.

Re: Gps vehicle icon

Mine actually has a GC on it.
From the main screen menu under tools
It can be changed.

Re: Gps vehicle icon

You must have the 430n by Garmin. Not available on the 730n.

Re: Gps vehicle icon

I don't really like the WK2 icon that the 430N has anyways. If I remember correctly, it's light grayish, so it doesn't have enough contrast enough against the map. Looks too much like the color of the roads. So, too hard to spot, imo, when quickly glancing at the display.

Re: Gps vehicle icon

I don't mind the colour of the 430N WK2 icon, but I don't like the fact that is does not scale in size with the map. At certain times it is too big and covers details of intersections you want to see; other times it covers several city blocks. Workaround: You end up scaling the map manually to see around the icon.

Mine is red, which is the color of my Overland. It would be interesting if the icon really did match the paint job.

You are pretty much stuck with the triangle.

When I turn on my 730 it defaults to the nav screen, I dunno if I had to configure it that way, but if I turn off the car when the nav screen is displayed, it is displayed on the restart.

I think the 430 will accept icons you download from garmin. At one time you could make up your own custom icons but I dunno if the newer systems retain that feature. You can load in different voices too.

Re: Gps vehicle icon

I ask because my Jeep is red and my icon is red. I can't find a way to select any color but red (not that I want to, red is my favorite.) Another contributor reported a gray icon.
