Hacking the 730n OS

I've been playing around with the RHR 2.136.ISO file that *sox* provided (thank you *sox*) to see if there's a way to modify the sound files and/or OS graphics.

I found the uconnect voice files. Seem like it would be easy enough to modify them. For example, the "Phone Call Completed BeeBoop" that plays when a call ends is just a .WAV file. I'm thinking it would be easy enough to record a new .WAV file and substitute it. So long as the file name is the same, it "should" work.

I'm guessing the graphics are the .ANS files but I can't seem to get them open.

From the little research I've done, it sounds like the OS is qnx based and I don't know sh!t about qnx. Anyone know how the OS was compiled (if it was compiled) or how to uncompile it for viewing? I really want to get into the OS graphics files, which I'm guessing are in the ISO.

Also, before I brick my 730n, anyone been down this road before and have some input?

I'm not a software engineer but I am an engineer so it's in my nature to take things apart...

Greetings,

Being a construction project manager, I understand what you are going thru.

With regards, to QNX, it was developed by a subsidiary company of Harman who sold to Blackberry.

Check out this link for your research:

Best for now.

Re: Hacking the 730n OS

Back when I had my 08 Limited Grand Cherokee with the 730N RER I played around with it. I took the hard drive out and cloned the disk image to a different disk. I then installed a QNX x86 build(they had a developers version for free download at the time, no idea if they still do) in a VM and mounted the cloned OS disk to the VM and looked around.

I was hoping to use a bigger HD and resize partitions to have more space for MP3s. Although I was able to do it, and via the OS it showed all the extra space, when I placed it back in the unit, it only used the original total space. Guessing their was some hard coded software limit.

It's been so long now, I don't remember much, but you can probably do the same if you have some familiarity with Linux. I didn't look at changing picture or audio files at the time.

I had posted a bunch of information at the http://mofv.com/mygig site, which was the main site on the internet supplying MyGig info and updates, but it seems to be down now.

I have some reading to do. Thanks for the link.

Mofv has been down for at least a few weeks! Sort of sucks as just about every search I do leads back to that site
