Re: Has Your RHR Lost Memories?

My new nav unit that was just replaced under warranty lost all the saved addresses and home address today so a new unit will not solve anything.

It is at dealer now for Qlift issues and I told them about the mem issue. Dealer told me the unit has several error codes, so they have ordered a new radio and will replace.

I'll be back after a couple weeks and leave a post as to what happens.

I don't think it is hardware... I suspect software is the issue and as others have said eventually they will have a software/firmware patch to resolve.

But we will see...
Update?

Re: Has Your RHR Lost Memories?

My RHR was replaced same as above.
Have had it back for one week and so far still knows where home is. Maybe just needed to let it sit in the garage for a few days more ?
Also still has station presets.
But too early to tell, I don't think it is fixed... I think there is a bigger issue with either the hardware or firmware.
We will see and I'll report back with either good news or not so good...

Re: Has Your RHR Lost Memories?

My RHR has been holding memory for about six weeks now, which is more than I can say for my own memory.

Re: Has Your RHR Lost Memories?

I spoke to my dealer today after having my 730N RHR replaced. The replacement unit did not fix anything. The service director asked me a bunch of questions that the Chrysler "STAR" tech support people wanted to know. They asked questions like: which memories are not holding like sat, radio, address book, home address, etc. They also wanted to know how long they held memory before disappearing. And how long did vehicle sit when I noticed they were gone.

Half the questions I had no idea.

Re: Has Your RHR Lost Memories?

I just got an email back from Customer Assistance saying to work with my dealer. I have and they look at me like I'm a dope (probably true). We have to keep after them to get this fixed. Did you guys see Ford just announced they are sending out a flash drive to sync customers to fix issues? Amazing what a little noise and a drop in customer satisfaction will do.

Re: Has Your RHR Lost Memories?

That's good Ford PR, but let's see if it fixes the problems. Also, they are overhauling the entire MFT system in 2012.

I don't disagree on the Ford PR but it's better than having your dealer tell you "after you save the Home address and favorites turn the car off for at least 10 minutes" (yup told me that this morning)

Re: Has Your RHR Lost Memories?

Sounds like your dealer was confusing the home address issue with a recipe for roasting, then carving meat.

Re: Has Your RHR Lost Memories?

I'm writing this from our dealer. I found that after setting sat presets in driver's memory 2, then memory 1, then going back to 2 then returning to 1 would erase presets in 1. I mentioned this to the service manager, who while curious says he has had a number of similar complaints and Chrysler should be having a software fix undertaken. He also waved off comments on JG I printed out, as they are from the Internet.

Anyhow, let's hope that the next firmware update will finally fix the various nav and radio memory wipeouts.

Re: Has Your RHR Lost Memories?

Not sure if the timing is related, but I got into my car this morning after only be out for 2 minutes in a store and my clock (which I know was correct when I turned the car off) was saying 4:43pm at 8:53am, when I started to try and figure it out I noticed that all my preset Nav locations were also gone. Sat presets were still there. The current clock setting was GPS and I left it that way for now, it also has the option to allow user to set clock. Anyone know how to get the GPS set clock to reprogram?

Re: Has Your RHR Lost Memories?

I believe the GPS clock should set itself automatically, as soon as it makes initial contact with the satellites. That's usually within a few seconds after you start the engine.
