Head Unit - upgrade!

Wondering if one of these can fit in our JGC.

It looks like they will only fit Ram, GM, Toyota, and Ford...

Re: Head Unit - upgrade!

The problem you'll likely face is that MY14+ has a completely different electrical buss than earlier model years and there is a lot of vehicle functionality actually bundled into and controlled by the RA-x systems in the dash. I know they say they have a vehicle function module available, but be very, very sure it's compatible with the JGC before you plunk down your money. The fine print at the very bottom doesn't bode well for this... "Not compatible with factory-equipped 8.4” screen models" and RAM uses the same systems if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Head Unit - upgrade!

Greetings,

Correct, the Alpine 9 inch series will not work with the 8.4 in the 2014+ models. In fact, any aftermarket HU will not work.

2 things way: The electrical system is not the same which includes the computer routing via the Hi Speed Can-bus. And the Uconnect is built into the factory HU.

None of the aftermarket integration folks have developed a harness to tap into the system due to this limitation. I do not see anything in near future as of now.

The solution around this problem at the present time is to get one of the many lock pick devices and tap your smartphone into it. Your setup a tablet and integrated into a DSP that accepts source priority. This way if you get a phone call and you are playing music on your tablet, the phone call becomes the priority.

Best for now.

Greetings,

Latest Post:

The Alpine 9 inch series with the iDataLink (around $3,000.00), I would rather get my new Helix DSP Pro processor, my cat-back exhaust (not sure which one yet) and my Diablo Sport 1100 tuner. Next year I will get my new headunit.

I think I could even a manage a trip to Arcida National Park again.

This post = $$$$

Best for now.
