Help With a Sirius Problem

Hi guys i am new to this forum ... Been doing some reading and ended up here i wanted to reach out to you guys and see if you can help me out.

I live in Mexico City and currently own a 2012 WK2 ... My van initially came with a RHB system but i guess they took out the Sirius part out of it .... so i started reading online and purchased first the Antenna in order to get the Satelite working then purchased a RHR unit out of ebay . Called sirius gave them the ID and got the suscription.

So i have now everything working execpt sirius the main reason i purchased the RHR was in order to get sirius .... the unit keeps displaying a SAT Region Error .... I have tried going into engineering mode and restore to defaults but the error keeps on going.

Is there a way i can get this problem solved ????

Many Thanks

Re: Help With a Sirius Problem

Hi. Welcome. Call Sirius. I have read that it is not available in Mexico.

Re: Help With a Sirius Problem

The don't have a license to broadcast in Mexico. I suspect Sirius makes efforts on their end to ensure their service can't be picked up in regions it does not have license for.

Sorry, that's all I've got - hope I'm wrong.

Re: Help With a Sirius Problem

Well i have seen it working in mexico with my own eyes .... But they were all with an aftermarket units .... I wanted to keep the stock look and not modifying the das because i dont know for how long i am going to keep my Wk2 ....

I guess i wasted like $900 with this idea of mine I appreciate the help.... I can only think of one last thing to do i am going to go to miami in about a month or so and i wanted to know if there is a way i can take the unit with me and activate it there .... the only problem i can think of is if there is a way to power the unit without being coneccted to the actual car .... and also if there is like a portable antenna i can use in order to get the satelite signal

Re: Help With a Sirius Problem

Not sure I can really be of much help but I would contact Sirius. Perhaps Jeep does not have a license to give out free Sirius in Mexico but I would think that you certainly would have the right to purchase a subscription. I have been a subscriber of Sirius almost from the time they opened their doors and always found that their customer support was great.

In earlier systems you often had to go to your account and have a signal sent to your system to get it connected. I see they have a screen that is related to set up so perhaps the radio was configured wrong when you got it.

But contact Sirius and I am sure they will have the answer. Maybe not the one you want but you will not be wondering why.
