Help with XM traffic

Hi All- I purchased a 2015 altitude about 6 weeks ago. Last week I purchased the XM traffic but couldn't get that actual traffic to appear on the nav. I had XM resend the signal numerous times but it still wasn't working. Finally they said there is something wrong with my radio. I dropped the car off this morning and they just called me and said my radio isn't compatible with XM traffic?? He said it says so in my owners manual but the manual is in my car so I can't reference that. That seems a little bizarre that a 2015 model year car, with nav and XM radio is not compatible with the XM traffic. Has anyone else heard of this? Better yet, does anyone have an altitude with XM traffic? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Help with XM traffic

i tend to think (or at least hope)- that sirius/xm's systems would not allow them to add a feature to a radio's ESN that it can't do.

Presumably one can't call them up and tell them to add a package/channel to a radio that physically can't receive it, so why would traffic be different?

Re: Help with XM traffic

XM Traffic is only available with the RA4 (8.4AN - NAV from factory)...it's not listed as a feature for the RA3 which is the only system available on the Altitude special edition. So your dealer is correct that your system is not compatible with the XM Traffic feature.

You are correct; I found that out last night after researching about the two different radios. I thought the dealership was being lazy and didn't want to fix the problem. I also thought it was weird that Sirius would allow me to purchase the traffic with them knowing my radio was compatible. Either way the dealer was correct, and thanks for responding.

Well that presumption is not correct. I called them and they certainly added it to my package knowing my radio wasn't compatible. I even received two bills from them charging me for the 12 months of traffic. It wasn't until afterthought dealer contacted them that they refunded me the money and then told me my radio wasn't compatible.

Re: Help with XM traffic

You're not missing much. For example I was going 15mph on Rt 128 near Boston a couple of weeks ago and checked Traffic to see what going on. It said, "Road congestion, 15 - 20mph".

Sounds like it worked well to me. You knew there was congestion and XM Traffic said there was.
