High frequency distortion over a2dp?

I've noticed a distinct distortion in higher frequencies when playing music over a2dp. It will do the same whether it is Pandora, or a stored mp3 on the device. It's not the songs, because when the same songs are on the HDD they don't have the noise.

Can anyone confirm that they have this as well, or is this something I should have my dealer look at under warranty?

Re: High frequency distortion over a2dp?

You don't mention what your head unit is so we can speak only in generalities. This is probably not a defect in your particular system and therefore not a warranty issue -- replacing it would not change the behavior. At least one head unit has had a recent firmware upgrade that allows it to use more bandwidth for the bluetooth connection. You should explore that.

Re: High frequency distortion over a2dp?

Good point.

I've got a 430N.

I'd like to think it's not just a case of terrible quality electronics. I have several other bluetooth devices (including 4 other cars), and only the Jeep has the issue.

FWIW, I believe I have the newest software versions.

Re: High frequency distortion over a2dp?

The TSBs that came out last March (one for MY2011 and one for MY2012) included, among other things, "Improved sound quality during Bluetooth streaming."

Re: High frequency distortion over a2dp?

Hi all,

First time posting here. I just took delivery of a 2013 Laredo E and I am experiencing the same distortion/noise as the OP described. I also have the 430n. The tried listening to my iPhone 4s both on Bluetooth and connected to the USB port and the noise was there regardless. Sirius and radio stations seem to work fine. I may do an experiment with the A/C on and off to see if it is causing some kind of interference.

I traded a 2012 Wrangler that had the 730 Nav system and I did not experience this issue.

If anyone has had the issue and was able to resolve it, please share with us. Thank you.
