That really sucks.....I hope that gets fixed with a software update or something. I find that unacceptable.

Re: How do you like Garmin Nav in 430N?

We may not have much CHOICE but stick with the 430N.

The 730N isn't in production any longer. The new one (735N??) isn't available until at least January. And Crutchfield says the opening is NOT a double-din, being slightly too short, so I couldn't swap my Alpine double-din unit in if I wanted to!

On your light switch panel, turn the dimmer dial all the way up until the interior lights come on. Then, turn it back down to the second detent.

Re: How do you like Garmin Nav in 430N?

yea i know you can do that..if you leave the dimmer at full it keeps the nav in daytime...and one click down on the dial puts it at nighttime mode...however, you would think it should auto switch to nighttime mode as soon as your headlights turn on..

Couldn't the opening be trimmed realtively easily to get the DD Alpine unit to slide in nicely? +1 to the Alpine units, I have the marine version and it's the best head unit I've had in any vehicle.

Possibly, Moosehead. I, though, am a little timid about taking my cutting wheel to a $46k vehicle!

Hear you on that, a bit of pucker factor cutting into a new rig. Which Alpine unit do you have?

Re: How do you like Garmin Nav in 430N?

I had an IVA-D900, but someone broke into my truck this spring, so the insurance company footed the bill for a brand spanking new INA-W900BT!

Whoa, I'm all for keeping solid stock electronics, but that thing is a NFB upgrade (no brainer). If you're not going to install it, sell it to me.

Sorry for the derail JS.

That's what it's supposed to do, that's the way my RER works.
