How to bypass phone audio

I have a 2012 JGC Overland. My wife and I have our phones programmed into the vehicle. How do you bypass the audio if you want to have a private conversation with the callers voice muted over the truck audio? In other words you get a call and have passengers in the Jeep but don't want the calling persons voice to come over Jeep audio but just your cell phone?

On a related note today I was driving the Jeep and my wife was in another vehicle 25 yards behind me. She called her sister and the connection was made over the jeep. I told her at the next stop sign what was happening. She backed off a bit and I didn't hear the conversation again. Interesting. Told her it was a good thing she wasn't calling her boyfriend.

Thanks.

Re: How to bypass phone audio

On my Samsung Galaxy 3, when you make a call the phone displays an option on the dial screen to use either the phone or Uconnect. It's on the same screen that displays the dial pad but it only shows up when the phone is actually making the call.

You can also do it in the middle of a call as well. On the nav screen you can touch a button. I think it is in the lower left of the screen. It shows an arrow pointing to a phone. You touch that one and it will turn off the uconnect and you can use your phone like you would without it.

Re: How to bypass phone audio

You can also press the voice button during a call and say "transfer call". The call will now be routed thru the phone. Once your done with the call, press the Uconnect phone button a couple times, this will cause Uconnect to search out for your phone and then connect to it. If you don't do this, then if you have an incoming call during that current ignition cycle, the call won't go thru Uconnect but thru the phone only. The "transfer" mode will last thru the ignition cycle and will resume back to Uconnect when you turn the key off and have a new ign cycle.

Re: How to bypass phone audio

You can also hit the button on the phone that selects "speaker" or "headset" while in the call (usually on the same screen as the "mute" button). When you hit "speaker", the bluetooth will disconnect, but be available for the next call.
