How to Dim Night mode only 8.4AN

When I go into Display settings

I can adjust day mode brightness, only if day mode selected up at the top.

If I put it on night mode, it only enables brightness buttons on day mode.

In auto mode it won't you adjust brightness on anything.

WTF

Re: How to Dim Night mode only 8.4AN

No go.

Mine does not say Manual or Auto under Display Mode

It says Day, Night or Auto

Having Headlights on or off has no effect.

Only adjustment I can make is Day, when either Day or Night Mode is selected

I'm running 13.22 and I think it's a bug.

I guess you need a trip to your dealer. My software is 13.19, and it works fine.

No way I'd go backwards on firmware. Who knows what other things I might be trading off.

It could still be a procedural thing with the new firmware.

In general its a bad idea to go backwards on firmware. A good QA person will test going forward but rarely test going backwards. I should know, I wtite software for a living and going backwards is not supported. Most of the time its fine, other times it could be a disaste

Re: How to Dim Night mode only 8.4AN

I wasn't suggesting you change your firmware. I was suggesting you see your dealer to find out why it's not working, and possibly have them show you how to get it to work the way you want it to work. I've seen no complaints on the forum quite like yours. I have heard of minor issues being resolved by reinstalling the existing firmware.

Also, I explained setting display brightness in another thread. You might want to check out that post, and the rest of that thread. The manual really doesn't do a great job of explaining the procedure.
Those who have a 2014, any problems? or problem free?
I realize this is a repeat of my post on this thread, but other posts on that thread may be of some help to you.

Re: How to Dim Night mode only 8.4AN

I finally figured it out.

The problem was the Dash Dimmer Dial Position.

There are two Clicks at the top of the Dash Dimmer Dial (Dial Next to Headlight Switch), I'm used to there only being 1 Click at the top.

The furthest click turns on all interior lights.

The Click Before that, I guess, means Max Dash Brightness (or Turn on Dash when Lights Off, not sure which). Anyway most prior cars you just spin it up to just before the one and only click for Max Dash Brightness.

So I had it, in that 2nd to last click and that locks the screen to Day only mode.

Once I backed it off another click to the Top of the Variable Part the Night Brightness Control Enabled.

I forget now if Headlights still had to be on/off too, I think so (i.e. Lights Manual On AND Dash Dimmer Dial on the Variable Range - Neither Click)

Re: How to Dim Night mode only 8.4AN

Just wanted to say thanks for the help on this one. Not being able to dim the Nav screen at night was driving me nuts and it was the same simple issue of simply adjusting the dash dimmer dial down one notch so that night mode would engage when the headlights turned on.

Re: How to Dim Night mode only 8.4AN

Has anyone figured out how to make the display a little brighter when it is in night mode? There are some times when it is just dusk and the night mode activates and the screen is too dark to see since the sun is still setting.
