How to download Uconnect updates in IE11

I've noticed a lot of people saying they download Safari to be able to download the Uconnect updates. Obviously Chrysler needs to update some things on their end, but here is the quick and easy way to use IE11 to download the updates.

0) Go to Uconnect Update Site
1) Go to the top right of the window and select the gear icon

2) A window will pop up. The Add this website: box should have chrysler.com already filled out. Simply click Add.

3) You should see "chrysler.com" in the bottom pane now like this screenshot. Now click "Close".

4) Once you click close, the page should re-load and you should hit the "Show all content" button to make sure the page loads properly.

That's it. You should be able to download properly now.

Or if you use Chrome, click the little SHIELD that appears in the Address Bar.

Or better yet! Become a member here and do a direct download from a hosted site

Re: How to download Uconnect updates in IE11

I don't think we should be blaming Chrysler for download difficulties. What most are experiencing are browser security settings that are there to protect us from ourselves. Two clicks and Firefox downloads updates just fine.

Re: How to download Uconnect updates in IE11

Does anyone have a link to the direct download? I DL'd off the Chrysler site and followed the directions, but my Jeep won't update. Kind of at a loss here.

It's in the VIP section ... available to contributing members.

That said, after the download you need to run the program and direct it extract onto a blank USB.

Sure we should. If they just used a normal download it would work with the normal, more secure settings. As it is, it runs a little application on your machine in order to do the download. That's the kind of nastiness the settings are there to protect us against in the first place.

Re: How to download Uconnect updates in IE11

Just the large executable file size can throw a red flag with some browsers. I suppose the download can be problematic for some who aren't used to doing this sort of thing.
