If you've installed the stock backup camera, please help!

So I received my stock back up camera kit today and began installing it. I'm having problem with the wiring harness. Basically, the kit comes with a long, black wiring harness. On one end is a connector, but the other end just has four loose wires that have to be connected to the connector that is provided. I'm assuming this is so you can run the wire where it needs to be ran without a big connector getting in the way.

In any event, here are my problems:

1.) How do I connect the loose wires to the wiring harness connector? There is a schematic provided, but I can't figure out how to connect the wires to the connector based upon the schematic. There appear to be six pins in the connector, but only four wires coming from the harness.

2.) Where does the connector that you assemble connect to? Do I disconnect the camera from the connector that comes attached to the light bar, and plug it directly into the wiring harness that comes with the kit?

Please help. I have an appointment to have this activated by the dealer on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and I'd really like to get this done. Thanks,

Kevin

I have installed a kit in my wife's car but the instructions were very clear, and the after-market kit was "plug and play". Apparently your MOPAR kit came with instructions clear as mud, just like the instructions that came with my Mopar roof racks.

You need a "pin-out" diagram for the connector. It's not unusual to have less wires than pins- just leave the unassigned spots unconnected. You need to call who you ordered the kit from and get that. Also ask for a routing diagram for the wire.

The hardest part of these kits though is getting the wire neatly from the camera, along the hatch hinge, through the passenger compartment and into the dash without destroying the interior of the car, then putting it all back without having everything rattle. To do so in my wife's late model BMW took a standard kit of hard plastic pry bars, lots of patience and care, space in the garage for most of the interior of the car and about four hours. Even if you have to pay the dealer to make the final connections you will still save money by doing that part of the install yourself.

Thanks for you reply... part of the problem was I was installing the camera at 8:00 p.m., trying to use artifical light. Anyway, I figured out the answer to my first question. The wires on the schematic are labled with numbers 1-6. The connector provided with the kit also has numbers listed for each pin. You just need to match up the wires (based upon their colors) from the schematic with the pins on the provided connector:

I'm still looking for help with my first question though... Where does the connector that you assemble connect to? Do I disconnect the camera from the connector that comes attached to the light bar, and plug it directly into the wiring harness that comes with the kit?

Anyone?

Kevin
