I'm assuming we must have different speakers.

Also, what does the surround sound mode actually do?

I have these speakers:
infinity Reference REF-6520cx 6 3/4” 90 watts RMS (270 watts peak power) 3ohm
infinity Reference REF-9620cs 6x9 125 watts RMS (375 watts peak power) 3ohm

On Crutchfield is says even those these are 3ohm's, the head factory unit will recognize them as 4ohm's. Which makes sense, because they sound underpowered, more ohms, more power you need to push the sound.
Then your under driving them and need to add an amp like I stated earlier in the thread.

I don't think most folks know about pointing the speakers downward and what that actually does. What are the exact speakers that you have installed impressive? Send the link to them all. Thanks.

Me? I run kicker ks's. But yeah I think your right tho that most don't know about setting them up right. It's all about sound staging, having the right amp, right head unit even wiring.

They don't sell mine anymore since I've had them for a good while now.

But

Here's the updated ones they do have

Re: Infinity upgrade not worth it!

Aren't kicker speakers traditionally bright kind of like focals? I think a lot of people initially just want a simple upgrade without amps. Let that break in and then move into amps etc especially as the budget allows that to occur.

yeah they can be a little bright, but ive dialed back the high notes slightly and gave a slight boost to the mids. ive got the head unit setup to cut all freqs from 125 and down from the doors/dash so that the sub takes care of that. with a little tuning on the amp and deck, ive gotten mine to be pretty balanced.

that's what I did with mine. ran them off my pioneer deck for about 8 months before getting the amp to run them. took me almost 2 years to put it all together as that's what my budget allowed. I'm happy with it.
