Re: Installation of OEM Camera in 2014 Laredo

Finally, today I finished my wiring also.

I ran the custom harness on driver's side.
ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1405900290.751710.jpg

Then I used a Glow-rod/Push-rod to pull the harness under the carpet where the OEM wires are routed.
ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1405900397.434006.jpg
ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1405900412.217619.jpg

Then routed the wire behind the panels

At the back

ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1405900687.617193.jpg

And the reason why it took me this long to finish, I purchased the pins to add to the inline body harness Plug, and didn't have to splice into any cables.
ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1405900799.084352.jpg
ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1405900814.234336.jpg

And the finished look... Looks OEM
ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1405900847.133882.jpg

The only cable that I had to splice was the cigarrette lighter by the Media Hub to get the switched 12v. This added 15 more minutes to the install, as I had to remove the shifter and the cup holder section to get access to the bottom 2 screws that hold the media hub. Then I added a fuse holder(orange wire in the picture) and soldered the connection.

So tomorrow I'll go to the dealer and have the sales code added.

Great job! Love the oem look!!! Would you consider making these harnesses and selling them to members? That would be a nice little side business venture and would help a lot of people out like myself. I have a 2014 altitude which I love but REALLY miss a back up camera! Especially one that works as well as the factory parkview system!

So I ordered a cable from Lassen but it seems that I won't need it.

I'll post an update after the dealer adds the code.

No Dealer Programming is Necessary. You need the RVCCH-75C from CRUX.

So why would one want to pay a few hundred for the CRUX instead of a $60 dealer activation?

Anyone who had success installing the OEM rear camera care to post a detailed DIY and let us know where you purchased the parts for the install?

Re: Installation of OEM Camera in 2014 Laredo

Alright folks, after a long delay, this is the camera retrofit working.

And as a bonus, and to clarify that by adding the camera also works on a RA2 5.0 screen i posted the picture.

I was having trouble with the picture, it was all scrambled at times, and the dealer was pointing fingers at my wires and even threatened me to void the electrical warranty if there ever was an issue and they could pin point to my install. I was laughing on his face when he told me this because i know i didn't splice ANY factory wires. Today I finally had time to troubleshoot the install, and the issue was a defective pin by the radio harness. I just swapped the pin and it worked as it should.

Note that the tail gate is open as I was troubleshooting the camera, hence the picture is straight at the building.

Troubleshoot custom wire

RA2

If someone is interested, I will build a custom harness and provide assistance with the installation. PM if you are interested.

This harness will work on the RA2, RA3 and RA4, so both the 5.0 and the 8.4 will be covered.

Which Dealership did you get it done from for $60 ?

Otherwise, the many Jeep dealerships that are using the Crux interface would not have to.

Re: Installation of OEM Camera in 2014 Laredo

Call around. I got quoted anywhere from $64 to $199. The dealer 5 minutes away from my place wanted $99, the other was 25min away, and is one of the bigger dealer wanted $149, then this "newer" dealer was about 25min away totally out of my way quoted $64. Again, call around, they can charge anything they want, there's not a set price and get a quote for a flash.

I have the kit in my garage right now. Comes with unpainted rear brow w/ camera and wiring harness. You'll need to separate the brow and camera on both the brow in the kit and the one on your car and swap them if you dont want to spend the cash to paint and add logo.

BTW it's cheaper from allmoparparts.com
