Installing subwoofer amp, need tips please

I will be installing an NVX 750 rms monobock class D amp possibly tomorrow or the day after.

I have a 2015 Limited WK2 with the alpine system.

I will take it to a friends audio shop to do it and need tips or suggestions on several install options so the audio installers do the least amount of damage while trying to figure it out.

1. Where is the easiest place to tap from to get the subwoofer signal? does the whole oem subwoofer needs to be taken out to be able to reach the 2 pairs of speaker wires?

2. I will try to get the amp under the front passenger seat, where is the best place to get a ground from in that area? where did you pass the positive cable from to get to the amp under the rear seat?

3. What place is the best one to get the positive signal from to the amp?

THX in advance

You might want to reconsider your mounting position...the vehicle battery is under the front passenger seat... ...and needs to remain accessible for maintenance over time.

Thanks for the advice, will try to install it under the rear passenger seat or in the spare tire area.

Is there a way to get to the subwoofer wire cables to tap to to get speaker level signal without removing the stock alpine subwoofer?

THX again

i wouldn't eliminate under the passenger seat just because you may have to replace the battery every 6-8 years...i mounted mine there

It will really depend on the amp size for fitment issues, especially if you have power seats. you could mount it to the compartment lid and leave enough slack in your cables for access.

I didn't mean to suggest that position is a "no go"...'sorry I wasn't clear on that in my quick response. But the battery location under there does need to be considered in the decision.

Re: Installing subwoofer amp, need tips please

Greetings,

I generally do not recommend electronics or amps under the front seats.

My concern is amount of water that these pieces can be exposed to. By this I mean: in the winter time the snow with salt coming into the JGC with your foot gear, mud and wet shoes in general. After the equipment has a few exposures to these conditions, you risk the possibility of internal damage.

If you have no choice and located your equipment under the front seats, then take measures to protect them.

Just my 2 cents.

Best for now.

I think I remember the wires being accessible for the factory sub on the top of the sub. It is really easy to take out the sub though. I can do it in less than 3 minutes.

The am p will work under the seat but there is a crapload of space back in the spare area to fit all the gear.

That factory spare cover is gonna resonate like crazy once the sub is installed under there. I replaced mine with a mdf cover that has a metal grill. I carefully removed the factory carpet from the plastic cover and reused it since it is acoustically transparent.

If you have any specific questions please let me know. I am my own installer and my driiive site has more photos of the changes I have gone through with my jeep.
