iOS 9 and UConnect

Has anyone been brave enough to update their iDevices to iOS 9? My previous vehicle was a 2011 KK and when I updated to iOS 8, I lost hands free calling but could stream music oddly enough. Fast forward, I'm now driving a 2015 WK2 using iOS 8.4.1 with no issues other than the text messages that have been documented as not compatible.

The last update was painful for me, lesson learned was to wait until the first update before upgrading. I am sure I'll be resisting temptation to upgrade until then.

My hope is that folks can share good/bad experiences (hoping for more good than bad) they've had after having upgraded their iDevices to iOS9 and share with the community so we can all have a better feeling about upgrading to 9.

Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Re: iOS 9 and UConnect

I've been running iOS 9 beta for the past few week on my iPhone 6. Upgraded to final release today and so far no issues. Works just like iOS 8 did.

Re: iOS 9 and UConnect

I updated my iPhone 6 Plus and iPad to iOS 9 today (note I did not use any iOS betas). There is one update bug that I have reported to Apple. After updating to iOS 9 when you go to manually backup on iCloud it reverts to "Never" as the last time it was backed up and then backs up for the first time the entire device AND the last backup on iOS 8 disappears from your devices backup list as soon as you hit backup on iOS 9. So set aside time to backup from scratch once you update to iOS 9 .... which can take awhile. You'd hate to update and something happens to your iPhone or other iOS device before you were able to do a full new backup on iCloud and your last backup on iOS 8 has disappeared!!! Could be a serious bug problem.

I don't believe that is a bug. The reason it says never is because you have never backed up the device running on iOS 9. The device looks for backups in iCloud with the same firmware version that is on the device. If you were to restore back to iOS 8, which can't be done anymore, you would see your last backup made with that firmware.

I've learned over the years that when big updates roll around you should always backup the device to a computer before the update. Makes a restore, if needed, much faster than waiting for it to download from the cloud.

Nope. That is NOT how it worked upgrading to the other iOS's (7 & 8). The iCloud backup is not dependent on the iOS version. After updating to new versions of iOS they were ALWAYS delta backups and never ever complete backups from scratch. At the VERY LEAST the prior iOS 8 backup should appear as a backup in iCloud and NOT disappear....what if you want to downgrade back to iOS 8? This 1000% is a bug with iCloud and iOS 9. I am sure they will correct this very soon. I have brought it to their attention and they are pretty good at correcting these things in a timely fashion.

Re: iOS 9 and UConnect

I took the leap of faith and upgraded my iPhone 6 Plus but haven't really messed with unconnect. Only issue I came across was my plex app does not work on iOS 9. I was running older version of plex because new one requires server update. Now I had to update the app to current version so app can run on iOS 9. Luckily I still have my iPod which I won't update just yet. Will give it a few days if not will downgrade before window closes.

Oh, almost forgot another issue I have after updating to iOS 9 is the apps app icon shows I have 5 pending updates but once I go in there to update, I see the update all button but in a split second it grays out and all apps switch from update to open. It's kinda annoying but like I said I will give a few days.

Re: iOS 9 and UConnect

I have been running iOS 9 for a couple months with no issues.

It's normal for the uConnect app to pop up.

Re: iOS 9 and UConnect

I just upgraded to iOS 9 and now I am getting an "UNPLAYABLE DEVICE" error when I physically connect my iPhone 6 via USB. Am hoping this is fixed in an update by Apple or Jeep soon. Anyone else seeing this?

Important NOTE - I have not yet upgraded uCONNECT to the R40 version sent out last week as part of the security update to avoid remote hacking. It could be that this new version also addresses iOS9 compatibility.

Re: iOS 9 and UConnect

Interesting. Now working fine, all playlists and music is properly seen. Must have been gremlins in the system. All is well.

Re: iOS 9 and UConnect

Had time to use my rig and no issues with my iPhone on iOS 9.

On another note I did notice the EQ bug.
