That's from March. Probably not what you want.

Huh? That's exactly what you want if you have a MY2012 WK2.

Wouldn't TSB 08-050-12 supersede this TSB?

http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0805012.pdf

I've installed this TSB myself and still cannot get SMS working with iOS6.

What about 730N-RHR? Does it support MAP protocol?

Re: IOS6 supports SMS via MAP

Hey guys,

I have an Iphone 4S, and have been hesitant to update to IOS 6 because of the problems I've seen on the web with some folks and bluetooth streaming audio. Does IOS6 stream audio ( including steerwheel/touch screen support) on the 430N? I'm also interested in the SMS features (whether they will eventually work or not), but mostly concerned that I'll lose bluetooth streaming and control ability if I upgrade.

I don't think so. When a TSB supersedes another one, it says so in that TSB.

Re: IOS6 supports SMS via MAP

I have a 2012 GK Overland and the iPhone 5... I don't see an option for messaging on the iphone 5 side with ios6 in the bluetooth settings - just contacts.

Any ideas or just not supported on the 730?

Thanks
Mark

MAP (Message Access Profile) has not yet been activated on the 730 series; just the 430. We Overland owners (and others with the MyGig) are still out of luck.

Out of curiosity, I asked *sox* if the new 8.4" (MY2014) would support MAP. No reply yet.... If anyone gets a chance, check out the Charger or 300 (IIRC those models already have the newer 8.4" units) for MAP.

Re: IOS6 supports SMS via MAP

Slightly off topic, but for anyone curious I have the iPhone 5 and it works flawlessly with the 730n just like my iPhone 4 did. No SMS or anything, but I did not plan on that working anyway.

Took the Jeep in today and was told that http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0805012.pdf does not apply, despite mine being built 10/11. Supposedly they did something to enable PIN pairing with the iPhone (which I thought it did before) but SMS still doesn't work. It still says the phone is not supported.

Re: IOS6 supports SMS via MAP

Ok, I'll try to shed a little light here on the iOS6, MAP & Uconnect.
1) MAP became a supported profile in the V2 2012 vehicles. (vehicles built post 1-1-2012) Vehicles built prior to 1-1-2012 would need to perform TSB 08-018-12, this Uconnect SW update enhanced the system while also ending the support of SIRI, Visual Voicemail, Voice memos and resume play mode for iPod / iPhones.
2) iOS6 does support MAP for SMS texting but it doesn't work properly. It isn't sending the incoming message notification to Uconnect. The problem is that the BT specs are not tightly regulated which gives Engineers the room to add their twist to the SW messaging. This twist may or may not work properly with a car kit that is written to the BTSIG specs. In this case, it doesn't (along with some other phones. There are several that work properly and some that don't).
3) Apple is aware of this issue and are looking into it. However an issue that I have noticed from prior problems with Apple after a new iOS update is that they don't want to be the one to conform, they want others to conform to them. The possible problem there is that if the car kit company conforms to Apple, then there could be issues with the others that Uconnect works with properly.
4) The Harman radios (730 & 730N) are supposed to be getting an update that will activate MAP. I heard tat it was supposed to be last month or possibly this month (?).
5) The TSB # 08-050-12 does not have anything to do with MAP. It is for vehicles that would get voice prompts without the pressing of any buttons.
6) Just as with anything that is newly supported, because the Engineers from the phone companies don't talk to each other or the car kit companies about how they are going to make a profile work, there will be problems to be worked out.
7) There are fewer car kits that are on the market than there are phone makes. Also there are new phones constantly coming out, it would be easier for the phone Engineers to look at the carkit and how it supports a particulr profile and write their SW to conform to the kit. What is quite strange is that there are some phone companies that will have a phone work properly with a supported profile, then they'll come out with a new phone that doesn't work. You'd think that they would use the one that works as a model. But........

My 2012 was built prior to 1-1-12, yet the dealer says that TSB doesn't apply. I'm not sure why as it has never been in the shop before and thus never received any updates. It's possible that they just dont want to do it. Also, how does Siri support end with this update? Does it no longer connect when you hold the home button down? If it is a choice between Siri and SMS, I guess I would have to pick Siri.

Well neither of those are big surprises, but I am curious how you know this. I'm not doubting it is true just wondering where to find information like this. For another example, look at Apple's support of Nike+ (proprietary) vs Ant+ (standard). Or their new dock connector which could have easily been micro-usb. Reminds me of this:
