U-connect can't understand me at all when I'm driving on a freeway. It works tolerably well on surface streets at 35 MPH. Fortunately I have no need to originate phone calls while driving, but if I did I would be rather put out by this. My wife's car lets her use the touch screen to pick a number from her phone book.

Siri does NOT work with BT on my new 2012 Limited

I also cannot listen to voicemails... Anyone know what's up with these things?

Yeah, we've come to the conclusion that U Connect sucks. Its really the only thing we actively dislike about the Jeep.

The underlying problem was that some bright spark in engineering had conflated the DIAL and CALL commands so that both would accept either a name or a number. The recent TSR separates these again, so CALL expects only a name. This makes it more likely to work at freeway speeds.

I am pleased to say it works through the bluetooth, well with the 730N anyways. As soon as you hit the home button Siri comes through the car speakers and will dial, talk, text, read text messages and email........I can just scrape the Uconnect now all together. The only thing you can't do it activate Siri from the steering wheel button and it shows on the screen as if you are calling voicemail, but it WORKS!!
Please forgive if this goes thru twice.
Can someone help me with the key words I need to use with Siri when using my 730N RHR radio to send emails and text? I am having problems finding the correct commands for Siri for this feature. Thank you Margo

Re: iPhone 4S and Siri all work with BT!!

SIRI, visual voice mail, voice memo and any other SIRI related features are currently not supported with the 2012 Uconnect systems (with radios REQ, RES, RHB, RBZ). The reason why is due to the way that APPLE handles an incoming call while you are in one of rthese features which is simulating a call to your voicemail. Uconnect lets you know that there is an incoming call but the phone needs to send and answer signal to the phone (and a few other profile steps). There isn't an Answer signal, so if you try to answer the call using the Uconnect button, Apple drops the SIRI or other features mentioned above and then also tells Uconnect to tansfer the call to the handset. However the call is actually then sent to your voice mail.
You are now pushing buttons saying hello, hello while also getting PO'd.
Apple has been asked several times to show the profile stratedgy that they are using for these features. They don't offer any information, so if it doesn't work correctly then Chrysler won't support it until Apple works with them on the issue. Apple has been sent traces and they are aware of the issue.

Thanks for the reply. That sucks.

I wish the BT connection with the car would be just that - the BT connection only for phone calls. If I try to use Siri on the phone or voice text input, the phone should just work.

Re: iPhone 4S and Siri all work with BT!!

Unfortunately, this is not a Uconnect related issue. It's the way that Apple implements these features. They simulate a call to your voice mail in order for it to be streamed thru Uconnect. I am currently testing the new iOS6 and one thing that Apple has done is taken SIRI to AirPlay giving the user control of having SIRI go thru Uconnect or the phone itself.
I don't know about you (or anyone else) but I don't have much luch with SIRI getting most sentences correct and I just plain get irritated with her. But I'm sure she knows that an is sitting there cracking up behind the screen.
It gets irritating watching these TV commercials make her look like the smartest and easiest thing to work with.

It seems Apple chooses who they want to give out information to as my 2007 BMW X5 was fully compatible with Siri. I hope a firmware update comes out soon as I would like to use the SMS feature.

Anyword on uconnect working with Siri? I have a 2012 with 33.01.19 software and Siri doesn't work at all over the Bluetooth. I can still make and receive calls though.

Re: iPhone 4S and Siri all work with BT!!

The SW version 33.xxxx is for the radio and not the Uconnect system. You probably have 63.2.48 for the UC system. Currently SIRI is not supported and there isn't any plans of doing so. Apple is not sending a supported message for an incoming call while using SIRI. Having SIRI work may be a nice feature but it's not the main objective for the hands free system. It's an accessory. Not to mention the possible warranty claims that could come when people start to complain that Uconnect doesn't understand what I'm saying when actually it would be that SIRI doesn't understand what they're saying. SIRI isn't as accurate as some would like her to be.

Re: iPhone 4S and Siri all work with BT!!

Apple didn't give out information about SIRI in 2007. SIRI does work in Chrysler vehicles prior to the 2011 V2 builds and newer also. Sure she works but what happens when you have an incoming call?
