iPod crackling noise with 430N

I know someone wrote about this a while back but never got a solution. When i connect the iPod (2 gens ago nano, square form factor) to the 430N through the armrest USB port and put on music I get some crackling in the audio. It seems as if it is completely random in the sense that it happens in intervals and seems to be set off (most of the time) when I crank the volume up past 25. When I turn it back down it will still be there. It happens every time although not in the same maner, that is, it my be into the 1st song sometimes, othertimes into the 3rd, etc. Eventually it goes away only to return later. It is extremely annoying. Also, I have the latest software installed and use an authentic apple cable. Please help. Thanks!

Had a similar issue and insisted dealer replace the radio/amp (service Dept was no help at all - sales took care of it), but problem is gone. I suspect a bad amp is the culprit, and there seem to be quiet a few of them!

Seadoc,

Out of curiosity, did the replacement also include the HDD? Should I back up my stuff on there or was it only an amp replacement? How long did it take?
