I am getting awful radio reception, is the 730N compatible with HD radio? Do I need to turn something on if it is?

HD Radio is not a direct option in any Chrysler radio at this point. There are aftermarket alternatives but they are akin to the aftermarket iPod adapters we all have grown the hate over the years as they shim in between the sat radio or external CD players and fake out the system to think it's playing a CD.

If you must have HD radio then replacing the entire head unit is probably you best option.

Uggh! We actually paid extra for HD Radio when we ordered my wife's BMW 128i convertible two years ago. What a mistake!

Whether it's because we're on the fringes of town, or whatever, we often experience "toggling" where the radio locks on to HD and then 20 seconds later falls back to regular signal, then back to HD, etc. It's very distracting.

We've got a iPod connector in her car - when we want to listen to music we usually listen to the iPod which means that most radio listening is for talk/sports. IMO the improved fidelity isn't that big a deal for non-music, and the toggling is obnoxious. So... I'll be skipping HD radio in any future vehicles.

I had exactly the same experience with HD radio when I bought my aftermarket Alpine stereo for my Silverado. Not many stations were doing HD versions, the incremental quality increase was slight, and it would switch back and forth from HD to regular frequently. When that stereo got stolen, I didn't replace the HD module.
