Thanks.
Local dealer Bergey's got it and did the install. They sent Bergey's several copies of v2.126, kinda weird considering they only need one for onsite install.

BTW, so far no lost sat presets since doing Milous' procedure. Much too early to put up the victory flag, though...

Re: Is there a fix yet for 730N losing presets?

So if I had my driver 1 setting set days before setting my wife's #2 setting that would be like following milous's procedure right? I set mine last week, then this week I was pairing my wife's new iPhone and decided to set her presets. Haven't tested it tho. Did switch from 2 to 1 yesterday but I was just backin it out to wash.

Re: Is there a fix yet for 730N losing presets?

Maybe, maybe not. Following is a more-stuff-than-you'll-ever-need variation of Milous' procedure I wrote for my wife.

Preventing Satellite Radio Presets from Vanishing
Driver 1/Driver 2

Changes are limited to one driver setting per ignition cycle; you cannot make changes to Driver 1 and Driver 2 satellite settings during the same ignition cycle. Only the settings for the last active driver position will be stored.

For example, if Driver 1 presets are changed and stored, then the user switches over to driver 2 and makes changes, then turns off the ignition, only Driver 2 presets will be stored because it was the last active driver setting to be used.
________

Preliminaries

The radio requires a full bus sleep cycle to store each driver roster of presets. The following procedure can be done anytime, but it’s a bit easier in daylight or a brightly lit garage. Ensure you know exactly which Sirius channels each driver wants and in what sequence so you don’t have to do this again any more often than necessary.

Driver 1

1. With key fob on your person, turn ignition to Run (two button pushes); ensure radio is on.

2. Press the Driver 1 rocker button on driver door.

3. Set all desired satellite radio presets for whomever is the #1 driver.

4. Save these settings to the Driver 1 position with one firm press of the "S" button (the round middle button of the rocker switch on driver door). Leave radio on.

5. [Do not attempt to recall or save settings to the Driver 2 memory position at this point. The vehicle must go through a complete bus sleep cycle to save each group of settings.]

6. Turn ignition off (one button push).

7. Ensure there is nothing to prevent the bus from going to sleep, such as an interior light on, door or tailgate open, cellphone charging, scan tool connected, etc.

8. Open door (this turns off accessory delay), then exit vehicle.

9. Close door completely (this allows the bus to start going to sleep).

10. Stay away from vehicle for at least 5 minutes to allow the bus to go completely to sleep.

11. Presets should now be saved for Driver 1. Now re-enter vehicle and proceed to Driver 2 settings.

Driver 2

11. Turn ignition to Run (two button pushes); ensure radio is on.

12. Press the Driver 2 rocker button on driver door.

13. Set all desired satellite radio presets for whomever is the #2 driver.

14. Save these settings to the Driver 2 position with one firm press of the "S" button (the round middle button of the rocker switch on driver door). Leave radio on.

15. [Do not attempt to recall or save settings to The Driver 1 memory position at this point. The vehicle must go through a complete bus sleep cycle to save each group of settings.]

16. Turn ignition off (one button push).

17. Ensure there is nothing to prevent the bus from going to sleep, such as an interior light on, door or tailgate open, cellphone charging, scan tool connected, etc.

18. Open door (this turns off accessory delay), then exit vehicle.

19. Close door completely (this allows the bus to start going to sleep).

20. Stay away from vehicle for at least 5 minutes to allow the bus to go completely to sleep.

21. Presets should now be saved for Driver 2 and you should be able to operate the vehicle normally.

Re: Is there a fix yet for 730N losing presets?

So basically if I saved mine at night and the car went thru a sleep cycle and then saved hers a week later I should be good to go. I will test next chance I get.

Re: Is there a fix yet for 730N losing presets?

Murphy's Law. I just went into the vehicle, and once again all presets for Driver 2 and Driver 1 are channel 184.

I'll try it again, but apparently the procedure isn't the cure. Thanks, nonetheless, Milous.

Re: Is there a fix yet for 730N losing presets?

I found out that wife had changed the Driver 1 seat setting yesterday, so there's always the chance this is what caused the sat presets to fly the coop.

On the chance that any Driver setting change might trigger satellite presets issues, I had her ensure she likes the current seat/mirror/steering wheel settings, then asked her not to touch them again -- or at least let me know if she does. Then I redid the radio presets for both drivers as shown a couple of posts back.

We'll see how it goes.

Please read below. This TSB is for firmware v2.126, which is what I have and which didn't do the trick.

Re: Is there a fix yet for 730N losing presets?

Milous,

We've been away on a 4,400 mile trip, but by now your kind suggestion has been thoroughly tested. Result: IT WORKS!

Following is the exact procedure, also attached as a PDF file, that's evolved from your November fix. It's somewhat complex right off, but what we found over time is that shortcutting results in the problem resurfacing. Once done, though, it's not difficult to maintain.

I hugely appreciate your input on this, which heretofore was an endless headache for us as well as our frustrated dealer!

Note: I haven't yet tried tying in the key fobs to Driver 1 and Driver 2; I've kept that feature disabled in the EVIC to simplify testing. Eventually I'll test it for a few weeks, but in principle it should work.

Preventing 730N (RHR) Satellite Presets from Vanishing
Driver 1/Driver 2 as of Firmware v2.126

Changes are limited to one driver setting per ignition cycle; you cannot make changes to Driver 1 and Driver 2 satellite settings during the same ignition cycle. Only the settings for the last active driver position will be stored. Although this guide starts with Driver 1, it’s okay to start with Driver 2.

For example, if Driver 1 presets are changed and stored, then the user switches over to driver 2 and makes changes, then turns off the ignition, only Driver 2 presets will be stored because it was the last active driver setting to be used.
________

Preliminaries

The radio requires a full bus sleep cycle to store each driver’s presets. Ensure you know exactly which Sirius and other channels each driver wants and in what sequence, and keep this list in the glove box for future reference. Also, ascertain both seat, side mirror and steering wheel settings.

Driver 1

1. With key fob on your person, press Driver 1 rocker button on door. Enter, then close door.

2. Turn ignition to Run (two button pushes); ensure radio is on.

3. Set all satellite presets — plus AM and FM, if not already done — for Driver 1.

4. Save these settings to Driver 1 by pressing the "S" button (round middle button of rocker switch), then the “1” rocker switch button; radio will display that Driver 1 settings have been saved. Leave radio on.

5. [Do not attempt to recall or save settings to the Driver 2 memory position at this point. The vehicle must go through a complete bus sleep cycle to save each group of settings.]

6. Turn ignition off (one button push) but leave radio on.

7. Ensure there is nothing to prevent the bus from going to sleep, such as an interior light on; door, glove box or tailgate open; cellphone charging; scan tool connected; etc.

8. Open door (this turns off accessory delay), then exit and close door for at least 5 minutes. This allows the bus to go completely to sleep.

9. Presets should now be saved for Driver 1. Re-enter vehicle and proceed to Driver 2 settings.

Driver 2

10. Open door, enter, close door, then press Driver 2 rocker button on door.

11. Turn ignition to Run (two button pushes); ensure radio is on.

12. Set all satellite presets — plus AM and FM, if not already done — for Driver 2.

13. Save these settings to Driver 2 by pressing the "S" button (round middle button of rocker switch), then the “2” rocker switch button; radio will display that Driver 2 settings have been saved. Leave radio on.

14. [Do not attempt to recall or save settings to The Driver 1 memory position at this point. The vehicle must go through a complete bus sleep cycle to save each group of settings.]

15. Turn ignition off (one button push) but leave radio on.

16. Ensure there is nothing to prevent the bus from going to sleep, such as an interior light on; door, glove box or tailgate open; cellphone charging; scan tool connected; etc.

17. Open door (this turns off accessory delay), then exit and close door for at least 5 minutes. This allows the bus to go completely to sleep.

18. Presets should now be saved for both drivers, so you should be able to operate the vehicle normally. From now on, any seat, mirror or presets changes to either Driver 1 or Driver 2 settings may require that this guide be done anew, preferably right away, for the driver for which those changes were made.

Re: Is there a fix yet for 730N losing presets?

Just to add to the lunacy, I had the problem of losing SAT chan 1 presets on software version 2.120. I loaded 2.169 and the problem dissappeared, I have subsequently loaded 2.126 and everything still works. I doubt if this would work for everyone. I think I just got lucky
