Is this normal?

I finally got a smartphone (Galaxy Note 3) and I've noticed when I play the music files through bluetooth, it doesn't show the titles of the songs or artists. Is that normal? The SD Card shows everything and Uconnect (Pandora) works through the phone. tia

I'm pretty sure mine (HTC One running Android 4.3) does. I'll double check though, I don't use it that often that way.

Maybe it depends on the Music App you are using on the phone, since it may have to send that info.

EDIT: Yeah it shows everything. I'm using the Native HTC Music App (I think).

Re: Is this normal?

It does on both my iPhone 4s (iOS 5.1.1 and 7.0.4) and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.2.2.
iPhone was with standard ipod player.
Note 2 was with Samsung player and Music Paler app.

Phones are held next to Uconnect screen.

Note 2:

iPhone 4S

Re: Is this normal?

It should, but I believe whether it works or not is more a function of device compatibility and/or app compatibility to send that information over bluetooth.

For example, my 2011 Acura would not display any song or artist information but the steering wheel buttons worked just fine with my iPhone 5. However, my new aftermarket Sony head unit in my other car will display the song information but the buttons don't work, I have to advance songs on the phone itself (the buttons worked until I upgraded iOS to the latest and then they stopped).

Re: Is this normal?

Before I go looking to change music apps, I just checked with Uconnect and they don't have support for the Galaxy Note 3. I guess thats no surprise since it takes them at least 6 months to realize that there are new phones out there for them to update their system.

Snuke, thanks for taking the time for a few photos.

My note 3 works just fine with my '14 Overland . The track names display and I can control the tracks via the screen skip track buttons.

Re: Is this normal?

Yes, my note 3 changes tracks when I use the steering wheel control (left side rear steering wheel switch).

So I have noticed that when playing music files using bluetooth through the phone, in the vehicle on the 8.4AN screen, there is no way to view the artists, albums or song titles like you can using the SD Card. And no album art on the screen like on the phone. I guess thats normal.

Re: Is this normal?

As as far I know it is, you have to use your phone to browse.
