JL Stealthbox in 2014 GC Laredo?

Hi... JL Audio's website shows the Stealthbox being available for model year 2011 and up, but with the changes to 2014 I wasn't sure if that was still going to work? I am starting to plan out my audio upgrades prior to delivery and I really like how the JL unit fits in the stock location and doesn't appear out of place. Anyone do this on a 2014? Pics? Reviews?

I expect I will replace my speakers, but haven't picked those out yet. I will likely run a JL Cleansweep dsp-441 from the head unit (I ordered the RA3 package) and a JL-RLC to control the sub line. I will then feed all of that through, most likely, an Alpine PDX 5 channel or something similar. I have had very good luck with this exact setup in the past. If anyone has any speaker size details, placement options other than stock, etc or any other subwoofer recommendations that will retain a factory look and cargo functionality please feel free to send it along!!

I just went from a 2011 to a 2014 Laredo E, it appears to have the same size factory sub location as the 2011. I would say its fits pretty confidently.

I would though reconsider adding a clean sweep to the RA3. You really should go with a decent processor like a Bit ten, MS8, or 3Sixty.

Re: JL Stealthbox in 2014 GC Laredo?

The CS is a full sound processor, uses a configuration CD to revise the signals and flatten any crossovers. No, it doesn't have the adjustability of the MS8, but i have used one of those in the past and found the built in amplifier to be pretty poor and the cost of the unit too high based on performance. I am also considering the AudioControl LC7i as it covers much of the same functionality I am looking for.

I worked @ a custom car & home audio shop up until about a year ago. I knew a guy who works for JL (wont mention name) and won many titles back in early 90s with them. Even he would tell he much prefers the audio control unit over the cleansweep. I am a big fan of JL amps and most of thier subs myself. Just my 2 cents if it helps.

BTW... He is into audio quality rather than just teeth rattling bass.

I will have to look more into the AC unit. I used the JL unit a few times in the past in some VERY high end installs with great success, but I'm not particularly loyal to JL. I am an MECP certified mobile audio installer and used to work for a major player in the Boston area. I am solely focused on total acoustic quality.

Re: JL Stealthbox in 2014 GC Laredo?

My old boss was from that area and ended up in Maryland @ Polk Audio for awhile. I have used a cleensweep on a couple installs and was impressed. Never got to use the MS8 though, good to here your feedback. Also heard few good things about Audison bit ten but haven't researched myself. Post some updates when you decide if you don't mind as I am waiting on my wk2 and looking at stealthbox and probably AC unit or something similar.
