Which UConnect system do you have? This would help in determining the efficiency of the speakers sensitively level. Ideally, you need one above 90db. Also, do have the basic stock 6 speaker system or the premium 10 speaker?

Best for now.

Oh. Well that changed things. With the 8.4, everything is inter grated in. You can't replace it so you are stuck using a Loc.

In total for my headunit, component speakers, rear door speakers, amp, stealthbox, and all needed wires and such I was in for about 2500

Re: Limited Speaker Upgrade Only (for now)

Perfect - minus the head unit that is right around what i was planning on spending. I am sure i will be pleased with some highend speakers and an ms-8 until spring.

It will be light years beyond what is in there now.

Re: Limited Speaker Upgrade Only (for now)

Greetings,

Just as a reminder, the MS-8's internal amps are not that powerful. Therefore, I would recommend get a separate amp for the bass or bite the bullet and get a 5 channel amp for the fronts and sub. The internal MS-8 amp with quality speakers for the center and rears will hold its own. The other point, IMO, the MS-8 behaves better when the front speakers are in the active mode as oppose to using the passive crossovers supplied with the component sets.

If I were in your shoes, I would look for speakers first, then upgrade the electronics down the road. You will still be ahead of the game.

Best for now.

Greetings,

The Bit one is a very good DSP unit. I am running the XD600/6 for my center and rears. The XD series from JL audio is really excellent in that price point. I am extremely happy with SQ performance. I never hear the JL C2 lines, but, it seams to a very good speaker. When dealing with speakers and this goes back to my days in home and pro audio, each person has different perception of how something sounds. In general, JL does make a nice 6.5 drivers then give a nice warm mid bass punch and the tweeter is soft dome which also a good SQ.

The question that I have is, how are you powering the rest of the speakers and are using the passive crossovers. The Bit one is very powerful DSP unit. You might look into the Bit TEN D from Audison if you are using the passive crossovers.

Best for now.

Re: Limited Speaker Upgrade Only (for now)

This is a quote I just got from my local installer/JBL Dealer...

C2-650 Speakers: $225
Audison Bit Ten w/ Remote: $500
Hertz HPC4: $350

Install + Accessories = $500
Total: $1,575.00

I did send him all the prices I found on the internet through reputable sources to see if he could come close - I told him I would be willing to pay more for local service and warranty as long as I'm not getting raked.

Thoughts?

Greetings,

The component selection looks good to me and the prices meets your budget. The JL C2's are for the front. Out of curiosity, what is the speaker (signal) assignment between the bit ten and the Hertz.

The only thing I see that is not addressed is the center channel speaker. I would ask the shop for their opinion on a speaker that matches the performance of the C2 and let the internal factory amp power it. I believe that when here a nice wall of sound it would make a huge difference in your car. Many live concerts are switching the venues to a Left, Center, Right. If this brings your budget becomes closer to 2K, then you are way ahead of the game.

Also, find out about the reputation of the shop and look at some of the install as they going on. Very important, make sure they are authorized dealers for Audison.

Let me know,
Best for now.

Re: Limited Speaker Upgrade Only (for now)

If you went all out with DSP, I'd get some better speakers up front. I'd step up to C5s. Budget for some sound deadening as well.
