Re: Lockpick final Verdict...which one?

FWIW: I just removed my Lockpick V.5 from mine and am sending it back to them for replacement. I have had issues with the navigation from day one and nothing we or Coastal suggested could fix it. Also, for some reason the Lockpick connectors were horrible about bending pins so be super careful when wiring it up.

Re: Lockpick final Verdict...which one?

Hello, new to the forum here. I am following the forum, waiting for the 2014 JGC CRD. Looking how different lockpicks work I came across one lockpick that you can use the touch screen for an aftermarket nav. (http://www.eglober.com/ProductShow.asp?ID=2043) Does anybody use this lockpick? If I recall correctly front screen TV offered that unit but the site is no longer available.

Re: Lockpick final Verdict...which one?

It looks like any Nav with a video output would work. Same with Lockpick. You still control the 3rd party Nav via its own screen, not the RHR.

Re: Lockpick final Verdict...which one?

Thats what they are claiming, that you can control the 3rd party nav from the original screen. According to their manual you hook up the touch control over the interface to the aftermarket nav.

Hmm that I would have to see in action. Did they link to videos or anything similar demonstrating the feature?

Re: Lockpick final Verdict...which one?

Ah... Now I see.... In the manual, there is a section that shows how to modify the RHR unit to intercept the touch signals and re-route them. Good to know, as another solution at which I was looking needs the ability to interrupt and capture those same signals.

This other solution is to interface your iPhone/Android phone directly to the RHR and operate/view every app from the RHR touch screen.

Re: Lockpick final Verdict...which one?

and

Re: Lockpick final Verdict...which one?

All, good morning. I am thinking of getting a Lockpick but have one question. I am leaning towards the CHR 550 but have read in some posts of the issue of the factory rear camera image being leas than optimal. (I have read there is a workaround/fix by modifying the cable, but this does not interest me.) One of the posts suggested the latest verison - either the unit or cable interface, not sure which, has cured that problem. Can anyone verify? If this is not the case, I will probably purchase a Lockpick v.5. Thanks.

Re: Lockpick final Verdict...which one?

Sorry for the noob question, but what is lockpick. By judging from the posts, it is where you can get TV, DVD on the nav screen?

Yes, while the vehicle is in motion. It also provides additional audio/video inputs to your existing factory touch screen equipped radio. The newer version has 3 camera inputs if I remember correctly.

I've just installed a lockpick V5 in my 2012 JGC Overland for video & NAV unlock while driving purpose, I was not interested in other VES features. It works 100%.

1) Video button now appears also in driving mode
2) In Navigation, I can enter addresses etc...
3) VES greyed button (I've no VES) now appears now next to the other audio sources. so the integration & usage of the lockpick is quite seamless. a VES config button appears in the settings menu as well to switch on/off the VES but as said I'm not using it.
4) My unit is MyGIG 730 RHP Unit (export version South Africa, I live in Cape Town) updated to V2.169. I was not actually sure the lockpick V5 would work with my export unit but it does hopefully

Installation:quite easy, just take your time
- remove the center bezel, grabbing it from the bottom gently: no need for any tool.
- took out the 4 screws around the radio & removed the MyGIG
- connect the whole thing as per instructions, connecting the lockpick part last.
- I've squeezed the lockpick above the radio, in the small space there below the dash so it doesn't move in the foam. advice : put some tape on the dip switches area of the lockpick so that switches don't change settings when manipulating / pushing the unit in.
- ignited in acc mode & switched on the radio, it initialized, asked for a radio lock code for a few seconds (got scared here...) did some DVD ejects .. and just "settled" as complete initialization was completed.
- then everything is back to normal now.
- I've cut and tape isolated all the other lockpick goodies connectors I'll never use (additional cam, inputs, outputs...etc...) in order to have a minimum cable mess behing the myGIG.

I ordered the lockpick V5 from the US California @ www.sonicelectronix.com as I was struggling with Coastaltech. received and cleared in South Africa within 2 weeks.

Hope this helps you in deciding
Hey from S.A too How much did you pay on duties for the kit?
