The 550 worked fine for the ipod music but the video out was bad. The 550 video out showed the lines from the rear camera, the quality was low and my slingbox via ipod touch would not work. Also it made my rear camera black and white and grainy.

I ended up going back to my V3 and adding a A/V mount next to my car cell phone charger. Now I can put slingbox on the nav using my cell phone via A/V cables and I can still connect my ipod touch with A/V cables to view all videos crystal clear on the nav. The 550 isn't a great choice for videos IMO. It also messed up the rear camera image even when the ipod wasn't connected. O' and I couldn't turn on the rear camera while moving forward, which I use to park in my garage.

FYI, I don't ever watch tv while driving. However it is fun to have the audio for tv while driving. I'm also a season ticket holder for the Colts. I always get to the games early and it's cool to watch the other games and to see some pregame coverage on the Nav.

Any word on if there is a fix for the chr550 with the ipod cable video that shows the lines of the factory backup camera while watching video, tried calling coastaltech, no answer. I have the chr550 installed on the 430n and have this problem with the reverse cam lines and the video quality being horrible.

Just installed mine the other day, and the backup cam looks terrible(chr550).
Haven't tried video yet, will soon but it won't matter if I can't clean up the cam any as it's borderline useless now.

Mine's either going back, or if not I'll sell it.

Re: LockPick V3 vs CHR550

No I haven't. I've read enough about coastal tech to know they are worthless when it comes to support.

I read a lot of good things about the product, the only negative I saw was the one you quoted above of JEEF's. Was hoping that was a isolated problem, but after seeing you have issues, I thought I should post mine for anyone else looking at them.

I bought from autotoys, when I have a little more time to test and mess with it I'll get in touch with them and see if they have any ideas. I'm assuming every unit does this at this point with how little info there is overall.

Yeah, the stock back-up cam looks like crap now. Close to black and white, and blurry. And the overlay is messed up. bright pink at the bottom portion, oversaturated and bleeding a bit.

I should have time to mess with it more Friday hopefully.

Re: LockPick V3 vs CHR550

WOW!

These reports of poor video and even a degradation of the ORIGINAL displays has made me rethink getting the CHR550.

So, is the Lockpick V3 the better unit considering these issues?

Re: LockPick V3 vs CHR550

I ended up just disconnecting the unit from behind the navi and leaving the wires and setup behind my dash and glove compartment till there is a fix...

Re: LockPick V3 vs CHR550

Has anyone had good reports of CHR550 or are they all producing crappy rear camera video? I want the features of the CHR550 but if it doesn't work, I'm not going to buy it...
