Re: March UConnect TSB and SMS Text to Speech

I know this is slightly off topic but does concern the update. I have a 2011 GC with the 430N and have updated via CD and from uconnect.upd thanks to these forums! Which has resolved some issues. But my main issue is the crappy BTSA from my iPhone (4 and 4s with latest iOS). Basically the high end of the audio is garbled and sounds horrible. My phones work great for calls, ipod controls etc. but BTSA is unbearable. Do you know if the latest update on the TSB mentioned here will fix that problem? I complained to my local jeep dealer when I had it in for another unrelated item and he told me the tech said his phone streams fine so it is not a proble. Obviously he is wrong as it is my Jeep and my phones do not stream fine or as advertised... sorry for the off track post guys! Any help is greatly appreciated as I am very frustrated with this issue.

Re: March UConnect TSB and SMS Text to Speech

So why is the TSB 08-018-12 only go for vehicles built up to Jan 1 2012? I have a 2012 with 430N and a MAP supported phone cand cannot get SMS to work any thoughts?

You may just need to turn on MAP on your phone - it was not enabled on my new phone by default (HTC One S), even though I had Bluetooth setup and otherwise working.

For my phone, the setting was under Bluetooth>Advanced>Message Access. If I didn't note in one of my earlier replies, I did not end up needing to have the TSB applied on my 2012 GC for this functionality to start working - just needed to find that setting in the phone and turn it on

Re: March UConnect TSB and SMS Text to Speech

Hello, Can I get you to go to the link below and add your screen name, vehicle & radio model to my list? This is something that I have in the works to be updated. However I need to get a good list of members / people that are having an issue withh this. I have the same thread on several other forums also.

Re: March UConnect TSB and SMS Text to Speech

The reason for the update being for vehicles built prior to 1-2012 is becuse the vehicles built after that already have the update in them.
MAP is a newer profile and as with anything new will have some bugs that need to be fixed by both the car kit companies as well as the phone companies. Uconnect is built to BTSIG specs which are not always adhered to by the phone companies. They like to try to do things different if they can. The BT specs are tightly regulated so they do get twisted and with the twist, it may or may not work.
You didn't mention what phone that you have so I can't offer any suggestions yet. However, I can say that on most of the phones that I have tried lately, there is a request to download messages dialog box that comes up a minute or so after the request to download the phonebook comes up. Depending on how many contacts that you have in you pb, it could take a minute or so before the MAP request box comes up. If you don't accept the request, then Uconnect will tell you that SMS ids not supported by that phone.
Now I have tried a few phones that can receive messages fine but won't send them. Uconnect will let you choose a message to send but after you try to send it, Uconnect will reply "sending of text message failed".
I have also seen where that message would be said by Uconnect but the message would still go thru. The phone needs to reply back to uconnect that the message has been sent within a time frame and if Uconnect doesn't getthat message from the phone, then Uconnect assumes that it wasn't sent, and gives that "sending of message failed" response.

So just because you have a new phone that says it supports something, it's possible that it doesn't support it correctly according to specs.

Re: March UConnect TSB and SMS Text to Speech

This is what I found with that phone also. I have reported it to Uconnect & Samsung. This is the same that happens with a few other phones also. But there are phones that do work correctly with Uconnect & MAP. So I'm not really sure at this point who is at fault. I do know that the Uconnect SW is written to BTSIG specs. The problem is with the BT specs are not tightly regulated so they can be played around with.

How did you get the MAP enabled? I have the Galaxy note II and cannot get it working. Where in the settings is the MAP setup?
Thanks.
