Media Center 430N (RHB) GPS Antenna?

I'm actually a JK owner but trying to find out some information on the RHB navigation system, specifically where the GPS antenna is located and how it is connected.

The ebay auction here

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ht_4161wt_1087

shows no blue GPS FAKRA connection on the back of the unit. Just white for FM, and yellow for Sirius.

Is the GPS antenna for RHB really internal to the unit, as the seller suggests? Has anyone pulled an RHB from an WK2 and noticed a connection for a GPS antenna? The manual for RHB suggests that the antenna is external.

Thanks!

I just installed one. I bought the gps antenna but there was no connection for the gps antenna. The gps works fine without it.

Can't speak to that unit, but most if not all 2011 JGC's that I've seen with NAV do have an external GPS antennae located on the drivers side rear of the roof. It looks smaller than a deck of cards.

I thought that the black flat antenna on the roof beside the AM/FM antenna was the sat antenna, and that the GPS antenna has always been in the unit or the dash. My Overland BTW does not have the antenna beside the AM/FM antenna sat or otherwise.

This auction says RER which is the 730N not the 430N.

Well, then something is wrong because picture and text show Garmin Nav and 730N doesn't use Garmin Nav

Cool Steve, I've never actually seen the Overland, only the others. So sounds like the 730 does have the built in antennae like this ebay unit?

Re: Media Center 430N (RHB) GPS Antenna?

I looked at the EBAY listing again and the picture does look like a 430N, but the 430N is sales code RHB not RER. The sales code for the 730N is RER. I would question the seller.

I'll try to get a photo off the dealer lot and confirm the equipment. From this thread input above, seems like the 730 has the head unit with built in antennae, no external required.

edit: In the 2011 JGC brochure, the section describing the commandview roof has a birds eye view of a gold rig with the deck of cards antennae, though no am/fm antennae show up in any other photos. I'm guessing earliest build models used it, and perhaps later versions use the in dash or on dash method described in below posts.

Re: Media Center 430N (RHB) GPS Antenna?

when i installed my lockpick on the 730 there was a flexible "wire" antennae that was around and under the front of the unit inside the dash that is probably the nav antennae. I believe the satellite radio and regular am/fm are contained in a single unit. Im sure if you have the internet or whatever it might be an additional antennae though.

Re: Media Center 430N (RHB) GPS Antenna?

Here is a picture of the roof of my Overland with the 430N RHB media center. I have only the AM/FM antenna. I did however see on line a picture of an early 2011 GJC that had a deck of playing card size antenna next to the AM/FM antenna, but mine doesn't have it.
