Question Metra Speaker Wiring Adapters

I was just wondering if anyone knew where I could source the Metra 71-039 and 71-049 speaker wiring adapters other than at Crutchfield?

I have been trying for the last 3 days (2 international phone calls and endless emails) to order via Crutchfield through their international ordering process but honestly don't know how they will ever finalise a transaction through it. It is harder to buy 6 adapters off them then it was to buy my house!!! (It is mainly to do with White Pages USA not having their data up to date and consistent for the USA delivery address). It certainly goes down as the most amount of hoops i have jumped through for $50 of adapters.

If anyone knows an alternative supplier that would be appreciated!

EDIT: Can anyone confirm that the Metra 72-6514 is the same as the 71-049? From what I can see in photos, it looks the same. Strangely though, Crutchfield sell a 71-050 that just appears to be a reverse polarity on the 71-049. What is strange is the 72-6514 looks the same (polarity) as the 71-049 but is marketed at the same cars Crutchfield have for the 71-050. Confused? So am I!
Also, is the Metra 72-6512 the same as the 71-039. It looks slightly different but very close. Polarity seems the same again.

If anyone has any photos of the actual connectors on the car (with polarity) that would be awesome, otherwise it looks like the door panel is coming off again.

Re: Metra Speaker Wiring Adapters

Thanks for the link! It doesn't seem to have the bit I'm looking for though...
Just to further confuse if possible and perhaps you can confirm. Looking at the WK2 Jeeps Audio Wiring pdf it reads to me the rear door speakers are reversed in polarity to the front door speaker plug. Surely I'm not reading it right?

Re: Metra Speaker Wiring Adapters

Greetings,

Never noticed that, I think it might be a miss print. It is very possible they put it out of polarity to play with Eurphony Matrix Surround Sound within the factory DSP. In my setup, I have the D pillars out of polarity. The effect is much better when the speaker is at ear level or higher in this application.

In any event, as a rule of thumb, follow the output on the amplifier speaker connections and match.

Best for now.

Re: Metra Speaker Wiring Adapters

I got a reply back from Metra saying the 72-6514 is the same as 71-049 for the doors on a 2010 JGC. Not sure if he means WK or WK2 but in any case 71-049 is supposed to fit a WK2. 72-6514 is readily available on Amazon, etc.

As for the 71-039 equivalent for the dash and D pillar, he mentioned 72-7902 is the one to get. However when I look it up the photos do indicate it is correct but it is also discontinued/not available. With that I have gone back to Metra awaiting a reply.

So most of the speakers resolved anyway!

Yes, I also got myself some of those (arrived yesterday). They will do the mounting of the speakers job. The Metra adapters are for the wiring loom. I ended up just getting a personal shopper to pick up some from Crutchfield for a 10% fee.
