Re: Mopar subwoofer?

Just make darn sure you stiffen and seal the box good. Use bed liner or something similar. Coat the outsde and inside. Mine is like a brick and heavy. Use a dual 2ohm sub as well.

So you used the rustoleum bedliner spray as well as something like a dynamat spray as well?

Re: Mopar subwoofer?

What about using an epoxy resin. Would that work well?

Re: Mopar subwoofer?

I'm sure that would work. Yes, acoustic spray on the inside, is what I did.

Re: Mopar subwoofer?

Which 8" subs do you recommend? Would a 10" sub fit as well?

Re: Mopar subwoofer?

I learned a valuable lesson of looking at a certain speakers, amps, etc and then going with the next model up but only pushing the budget out a tiny bit. In the end you don't say to yourself "if only..." so soon after buying.

Also, as far as subwoofers go, a lot of car audio guys are simply into car audio and will be quite helpful regardless of how much you spent with them. They love to talk and tell you what brand and model does what and how it performs.

I'm sure the volume of the stock enclosure is somewhere on this site, but you can work out the volume is to take big bubbles or popcorn for packing, fill up the enclosure as much as you can then transfer the bubbles/popcorn to a square cardboard box and then measure the volume of the box (h x w x d). Then go to different quality subwoofer models and see which one meets your volume requirements.

Re: Mopar subwoofer?

I think the main concern will be mounting depth. You may be able to increase that by making an MDF spacer. Like others have said, there are tons of decent 8" subs out there: ID8, Arc8, Alpine Type R, Sundown E8, JBL GTO, JL, etc. Polk MM or DB, etc.

I too am interested in this.

Does anyone know if a 10" sub would fit in this enclosure with a little modding?

Re: Mopar subwoofer?

If interested, I have the subwoofer enclosure from a SRT that can fit a 10" It's already gutted ready to go. I covered the enclosure with bedliner spray and acoustic spray to stiffen the enclosure. It bolts right to the factory location of the current 8" enclosure.
