MyGig 430N (rhb) Installation Con't

There are two posts for this install. The first part of the install is actually in the second post below. Sorry they are in the wrong order, I'm still trying to figure out how to post multiple pictures in a post. lol

I picked up my 2013 GC about 3 weeks ago and just got around to upgrading the stock RES tadio to a MyGig 430n (rhb). The swap took a grand total of 10 minutes.
Aside from swapping the stock temp controls for the auto climate control, this has to be one of the easiest and best upgrades anyone can do to their Jeep.
The swap was very easy and totally plug and play. I also did not have to go to the dealer for anything. I bought the radio off Ebay for $520.00.

The new MyGig 430n.

The back of the 430n. (note that it has the same connectors as the stock RES Radio)

Information label on 430n

430n (left) and the stock RES (right)

5) Swap the radios and plug all the connectors into the back of the new radio.
There will be one small, white plug socket on the back of the new radio that is not used.

6) At this point I turned the ignition on and tested the radio.

7) Put the 4 screws back in to secure the radio to the dash.

8) Put the bezel back on. Start by inserting the top first. Be careful not to rip the foam around the vents when you slide it back in. It's a tight fit but if you line it up correctly it slides right in. Then work your way down the sides pushing the cllips on the bezel into their respective holes.
And there you have it!

Re: MyGig 430N (rhb) Installation Con't

The process of swapping the radios was very simple:

1) Open the the door to the cubby hole at the bottom of the dash in front of the gear shift lever.

2) Using both hands, gently pull on the bottom of the dash bezel.
Gradually pull a little harder until you feel the bezel start to come free.
Then keep pulling untilt he bottom pulls away.

Once the bottom is pulled away work your fingers around the sides and gently keep pulling on both sides at the same time, working your way up the sides to the top.
When you get to the top you will need to focus your efforts on one side at a time and use both hands to pull the top part away from the dash.

Once the bezel is free lean it forward or push it to the side.
I didn't disconnect the climate controls because there was enough room to remove the radio.

A word of caution; At the bottom of the bezel and about 2" in from each side there are two small orange plastic trim clips.
These will fall off and if you aren't careful, fly across the cab!
You don't really need them if you lose them but I was able to find mine.

3) Using a 9/32" nut driver, remove the 4 screws that hold the radio in place and pull the radio straight out.

4) Unplug the 3 plugs and 2 antenna connectors on the back of the radio.
Make sure you depress the plug release tabs.
The plugs and connectors should pull off very easily.

So the nav works and everything?

What about the sat radio subscription?

I ask this because on wk2jeeps it states.
Vehicle being upgraded from (AM/FM and SATELLITE RADIO) the following is required:

RADIO REMOVAL
ANTENNA REPLACEMENT
RADIO INSTALLATION

[QUOTE=bpd138;700136]

Hello,
Yes, I just plugged it all together and everything worked. My 2013 GC came with the stock RES radio with bluetooth, Uconnect and Sirius. If you have these options already then swapping your radio to a 430 series radio should be plug and play.

The Uconnect is not built into the 430 series radio, it is separate module in the dash. The only unit's that are plug and play for 2011, 2012 and 2013 are the RBZ and RHB. Sirius Satilite radio is an option built into the radio, so be careful when buying the RBZ (no Nav) because some of the units don't have Sirius built in. The RBH (Nav) all come with the Sirius option. If your vehicle has Sirius and Uconnect then it should be a plug and play installation. I'm not sure about the 2011's but the 2012's and 2013's have a dual/combined Sat radio/GPS antenna, so no need to buy another antenna. Even so, if you have Sirius already I would expect that your current antenna will sork. I just took the chance and tried it and it worked.

I lost my free trial year subscription to Sirius but they have an offer of $25.00 for six months going right now and if you buy the other six months it comes out to about $95.00 for the whole year.
I hope this helps.
Willie

You said all 2012/2013 430 series RBH have sirius option but if you look at this unit for sale on this forum this one may not: http://www.jeepgarage.org/f12/brand-...30n-44154.html

Curious if this in deed does.

Re: MyGig 430N (rhb) Installation Con't

I stand corrected. I guess not all RHB models have Sirius. The one in your link doesn't have a Sirius ID on the tag so I'm guessing it doesn't have that option.
