Mygig vs CHR550 lockpick for 430n

Hey guys

So I am ready to pull the trigger on a lockpick for my GC.

I searched but could not come up with answers for a couple questions:

Is the only advantage to the CHR550 vs the Mygig the IPOD interface? I couldn't see much of a difference. I'm an android guy and mostly just interested in watching rear view cam while driving and inputting addresses. Also the video out may be helpful down the road if I add another backseat screen.

There was a post on one of the sites about a guy who bought a used GC, and his nav speed would always read 0, the consensus was that he had a lockpick, is this truly an issue. I did email coastaltech but got no response.

Lastly, where is everyone buying theirs? Reputable sellers on Ebay are selling them 50-60$ cheaper than straight from coastaltech.

Thanks in advance!

I think the chr550 also adds another camera input. If you planned on using an iPod to output video that feature was removed by apple in their latest update. Your better off with a v5.

Yes your speed on your nav will read 0, that's how it tricks it into letting you do nav inputs and video as your driving.

I got both of mine off this forum in the for sale section for ALOT cheaper.

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah I am leaning towards the V5, but would really like more confirmation about the nav speed not working, can anyone else chime in?

Hoping that was only applicable to prior versions....

Re: Mygig vs CHR550 lockpick for 430n

I have the V5 and the NAV speed will always say 0, I believe you can change that behavior in the settings, have not messed with it but every time someone posts something about it that's when I remember LOL.

Like the previous poster said, that's how the system is being tricked into thinking it's stationary. If you disable it then you won't be able to do the 'in motion' stuff like address entry and watching video.

Edit: Page 8 of this manual, Options Page 2. So the auto-override is set to ON by default. I will try to put it on manual and see if the speed indicator will unstick from zero. I hope I remember on the way home.

Thanks!!

If AUTO OVR is set to OFF,
(manual mode), press power button
2x while in any mode (DVD, VES,
Nav input etc.) as needed to
temporarily turn override on and off.

Looks like a double click of the power button and the nav speedo should work- I can live with that!

Thanks guys!

Just ordered the V.5

It worked! I did not try to input an address though, I didn't have a passenger.

So if the speed reads at zero does this mean that the ETA won't display correctly also because the GPS thinks you're standing still?

Yea the ETA isn't estimated by the speed your going currently but the distance and I'm guessing average speed or speed limit.

ETA works with both our cars and lockpicks
