Nav, bluetooth, and alert volume control. This is soo annoying.

I absolutely love my 2014 Summit, but one thing that has driven me nuts since day one is how the volume of things such as navigation voice, Bluetooth volume, and alerts (such as speed limit) will be changed by either the volume switch on the steering wheel or the knob on the center stack when they are in use. So basically if I'm driving around and have a destination set, and also use the speed limit reminder feature, you are constantly accidentally changing the volume of those features when you really meant to just change the volume of the music you are listening to which is soooooo annoying.
I like the navigation volume at 16 no matter what. I want it at that setting indefinitely and don't want the ability to change it everytime a message starts while in trying to change the volume of my radio . Does anyone else find this to be very annoying? Is there a way to only be able to change that volume in settings and not anytime a message comes through the speakers? In other words I hate driving along with the radio at a medium to high setting and you intended to change the volume of the song, but there happened to be a voice message being spoken at that time and all you did was change that.

Re: Nav, bluetooth, and alert volume control. This is soo annoying.

I have that same issue with ringer volume when a call comes in. It just about gives me a heart attack.

Some people have said that you can adjust this through U-Connect settings. I can't recall seeing this and would have to check. Others have said that volume is set with the volume knob while the feature is actually active.

This is what I found for setting the ringer volume. It may also work for other voice features...

1. Have someone ring.

2. While its ringing adjust the volume with the radio volume dial till its at an acceptable level.

3. Now answer the call. If the speech volume is ok then fine. If the speech volume is too low then alter the volume on your PHONE until it's Ok through the vehicle speakers.

Thats exactly what I DONT want to happen lol. I wish you can set the volume of those features in settings only and not on the fly. I guess for things like bluetooth calls being able to change on the fly is great, but for navigation voice or speed limit warnings its annoying because they always seem to get in the way when im trying to change the radio volume. Then I have to wait for another voice prompt to get those settings back to "16" that I like.

Well then maybe I have a setting set that only mutes the fronts or front left speaker, because if I have the radio volume setting medium to moderate I do not hear the navi or alert voice whatsoever.

Re: Nav, bluetooth, and alert volume control. This is soo annoying.

^^^ yes that's the same as the '14....and pretty much every Grand Cherokee including the old WJ's. In my latest Grand Cherokee though that feature has been bothersome because of all the additional time there is a chance to change the wrong volume ie. When the car tells me the speed limit, or im getting a text message, or the navigation is speaking etc etc. it's a every time driving thing where I'm accidentally changing the systems volume when I was intending on changing the radio volume. Just annoying that's all, and my only point of this thread was to see if there is a way to disable the ability to change the systems volume with that regular volume controls. Guess not.
