Nav is worse than useless!

My nav, as well as most everything else has been re-flashed or had the latest downloads. The whole head unit has been replaced.

Nav is still very unreliable. Does not acknowledge routes that are 30 years old. Tells me to turn onto one way streets....the wrong way. ....or left across 20 year old meridians. Often tells me to go on some very circuitous routes....always longer than the Road Tech Zumo 660 . Does not allow the entering of some house numbers...that have been there for decades.
Tells me I'm at the Tsawwassen ferry terminal...but it will take me 41 minutes to get to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal.....and gives me a route leaving the ferry terminal, driving away......then doing a u-turn in an intersection...then heading back to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal. (Yes ...I did cancel all previous routes.....AND deleted all recents.)

The dealer is going to do another flash.....if that doesn't fix it....another new head unit will be ordered.

I guess I keep the Road Tech Zumo 660 in the Jeep from my Street Glide so I can drive around the Lower Mainland without getting misguided and lost.

>>>Routes according to whom? Your field experience ?

Tells me to turn onto one way streets....the wrong way. ....or left across 20 year old meridians.

>>>Your maps are old and some streets may have changed from two way to one way in the past 2-3 years.

Often tells me to go on some very circuitous routes....always longer than the Road Tech Zumo 660 .

>>> I am yet to find two units from different manufacturers that provide the same guidance at a local level (not from one big city to another). Garmin, Sygic, Tom Tom, Here(tm) they all have some differences.

Does not allow the entering of some house numbers...that have been there for decades.

>>> Maps are old. I have never seen this problem except for new subdivisions.

>>> Check your routing settings. It is done ONLY at the screen when you press the green button acknowledging the new destination. Also check to see if it accounting for traffic (should you have SiriusXM traffic)

I've had every sort of nav problem and I had it replaced 3 times. From going blank to showing me streets in Russian to displaying kilometers on the dashboard and miles on the navi screen to the GPS consistently putting me 3-400 feet east of the street I was actually on, to navi activating itself every 5 minutes. But Jeep sorted it out mostly.

Re: Nav is worse than useless!

You The maps in the Jeep should not be more than 2 decades old..... One house in particular is over 50 years old and it's house # does not exist.....
Meridians I know have been in place for over 20 years that I'm asked to drive through/ over
Was told that to get to a 12 year old address from the dealership that some "off road" would be required
Also it would just freeze.....pull over shut down the jeep.... Re-enter address and carry on

Plotting some of the routes on a paper map make me wonder why it wants me to go so many Kms out of the way when the zumo doesn't ( more distance in the wrong direction than the whole trip should have been)
I'll go through the settings AGAIN.....but don't expect anything to be wrong

No Sirius ....reception is so poor that it wasn't worth having let alone paying for
Had it deactivated before it expired

Oh ya.....it's not consistent ......it works right about half the time

Strange...
My 2012 430N works great.
We have friends with a cabin near Alexandria, MN.

Google maps shows the cabin on the wrong side of the peninsula.
Jeep GPS took us right to the doorstep.

Re: Nav is worse than useless!

Back to the shop today for a re-flash.

If it does not fix the nav......they said they'd order a new head unit ...again. Maybe they can get one without nav?

Yesterday would have been a nightmare in Vancouver without a passenger and Google maps on a phone.

Now it calls streets the wrong name......changes it's mind where I should exit in the middle of the exit.

Re: Nav is worse than useless!

Another new head unit on order...will be here in a week.
I guess they determined that another flash didn't fix anything.

Wow, just wow.
That totally sucks.
Hopefully this new unit solves the issue for you.

Re: Nav is worse than useless!
