Funny how such old threads get revived...

The 730N and 430N radios use Garmin maps.

Garmin releases 4 updates per year.

I've owned my GC since 2012 and if I recall correctly I've received exactly 1 offer to update the maps at $149 per update.

Pretty sad.
So glad I have an Android phone with Google Maps.

Actually that isn't a true statement. The factory Nav has 3D where the software Nav upgrade does not and is also minus a few other features. What is true about your statement is the pricing. It is about the same to order it from factory vs. the aftermarket software upgrade.

The maps for the 730N come from HERE/Navteq.
