Navigation autozoom question

I have tried the autozoom set to far and that gives me a few hundred yards of road with virtually no detail. This is utterly useless for maintaining any sort of situational awareness. You get no forewarning of traffic.

So right now I am using manual zoom, which means a lot of time poking at the display.

Is there some other way to get a useful display without running it manually?

This navigation system seems to be a vast step back from the 2013 system. It will get you there but with the loss of customer POIs and this amateurish zoom control I really wish there was a way to replace it. This system is also one of the very slowest OEM systems. Fortunately for Chrysler the Ford and Toyota systems are much worse.
