Navigation directions in EVIC?

Recently traded my 2014 Limited 3.6 for a Diesel Limited.... pretty much everything the same except I got the Lux II package instead of the Adventure package on this one.

But, seems the navigation does not give the turn by turn directions in the EVIC on this one. I swear I thought the other one did. I'm almost positive it did -- with a little drawing of the turn and an arrow showing the directions. So I didn't have to look at the head unit but just at the instrument panel.

Can't seem to find a setting for it, either.

Anyone else have Navi that displays in the instrument cluster?

Thanks!

It's an option.

Look in Nav Options or Display Options. I forget.

I liked it at first but shut it off.

Re: Navigation directions in EVIC?

Thank you -- I'll look again. I swear I looked both places. Could be a screwy flash update.

FWIW, the Navi is pretty crappy. I had a 2013 rental WK2 and the navi was Garmin, I believe. I made the dealer throw this in as part of the trade offer. I would not have paid $600 for it.

You didn't really forget. It was moved between those 2 locations depending on the software update. When I first got my Jeep is was in both.

I usually have the 8.4 turned off and depend on the turn by turn in the cluster.

Do you have the 8.4an, with native navigation, or the 8.4A with dealer activated navigation?

I'm not sure, but that could make a difference.

Re: Navigation directions in EVIC?

For the current and previous version of the Uconnect firmware (Export), it is in two locations:
Settings – Display, and Nav Settings – Guidance:

Re: Navigation directions in EVIC?

I just remembered after looking at Snuke's post. At one point, to see it under "Display" I had to scroll down.

Re: Navigation directions in EVIC?

The 4th edition of the Uconnect manual says:

Settings — Guidance
With the Map displayed, touch the Options soft-key, then touch the Settings soft-key and then the Guidance softkey. You can also access this menu by touching the Settings soft-key in the lower right of the Nav Main Menu.

Navigation Turn-by-Turn Displayed in Cluster
Touch this soft-key to enable navigation turn-by-turn displayed in vehicles cluster during route guidance. Touch and release the soft-key until a check-mark appears, showing the setting has been selected.

The 7th edition of the Owners manual says:

Display
After pressing the “Display” soft-key the following settings will be available

• Navigation Turn-By-Turn In Cluster — If Equipped
When this feature is selected, the turn-by-turn directions will appear in the display as the vehicle approaches a designated turn within a programmed route. To make your selection, touch the “Navigation Turn-By-Turn In Cluster” soft-key, until a check-mark appears next to the setting, showing that setting has been selected. Touch the back arrow soft-key to return to the previous menu.

Thanks all -- this is really strange. That option is not there. This JGC had the navi added at the dealer but so did my last one. I'm going to try flashing again and see if that might help.

Sorry to tell you this...but it happened to me. Nothing can fix it and they eventually had to replace the radio. They tried fixing it several times from 12/22 till the end of Feb. Downgraded, upgraded, hooked up laptops, rebooted systems u name it, they tried it. Chrysler couldn't even explain it. I did lots of things myself b/c I hate going to the dealer.

Funny u mention ur prior '14 jeep had no problem with this...I had an early build with an immaculate radio, Uconnect and navi. (March 13). But my 11/22 build has had lots of radio probs and the Uconnect remote features from the app or website have never worked and they still haven't solved this...Especially since the radio is new. By chance is this working for you?

Flashing didn't do it. May be me but this system seems slower to "boot" than my previous guy. And took forever to reflash. Taking to dealer in the morn for some nagging items from delivery, this being one of several.

The passenger seat has a strange indention in the foam beneath the leather and the panel surrounding the cupholders and shifter doesn't line up evenly at all with the media access door. Love the Jeep but the quality control ain't up there with my previous 4R or Pilot.

Hope maybe a Navi flash will do it!
