Angry Navigation text blurred in NIGHT mode JGC 15 Overland

Got my 15 JGC Overland with Tech. Nice enough other than the fact that a piece of plastic fell by itself from the passenger door after two weeks.

Now I'm very troubled by the screen quality of the center console after two~three weeks of driving. The backup camera image is almost always blurry but I can still make out the objects in the rear.

Navigation is where it gives me a lot of issue. When driving at night the screen turns darker and the street names become blurred so much that I have to focus really hard (not safe for driving) to make out the street names (and those name bubbles keep moving around while the car's moving, didn't help). If I turn the interior light up (the light dial left to steering wheel) to make it bright as if it's during the day the text look fine.

My guess is although a very big screen, the resolution is so poor and the clarity is sub-par?

Is anyone else having the same experience?

Greetings and welcome,

I myself do not have the headunit that you refer too. However, with backup camera when you have that problem which is even common in the aftermarket world is to clean the camera lens in the rear with a clean rag or towel. Once that is done and the problem is still their, then it could be a connection which is covered under warranty at this point. As for the other issues, look to see in the menu of the headunit for a brightness and contrast settings.

As for MPG, I am not sure which engine you have, but with the summer blend of gas, I average depending on speed anywhere between 21.5 & 23.5 on the highway. Once the engine break in, my gas MPG began to hit those levels. In the city and stop & go, just like any over SUV, low.

Best for now.

In your UConnect, you can adjust the day/night brightness, try that and see if it helps.
The Nav definitely should not go blurry at night unless your 20/20 vision is impacted by age where your eyeball lenses are hardening and you will lose depth of field at night due to your wider pupil opening.

The rear view camera image should be as sharp at night as it is in the daytime.

I carry Zeiss wipes because it tends to get pretty dirty with snow/slush/dust/mud on the road, and clean it as I enter the vehicle.

You might have something wrong with the display on your unit... try adjusting day/night brightness in Uconnect first--but be sure you have NOT turned the adjust wheel all the way up into the detent, as that overrides adjustment.

As for mileage, it depends on the engine and how heavy and steady your right foot is plus whether you are coming in from a Prius or a G-Wagen.

Did you remove the factory screen cover? It's not meant to be a screen protector.

I have the exact same truck and it looks quite fine.

I was curious if they improved the backup camera over 2014 because it seems it is more saturated with color.

It might just be because the lens is nice and clean

Wait for it to break in. Needs a good 5K miles.
Wait for summer blend fuel.
Watch your tire pressure.

So far mine ain't so hot on MPG yet either.
But the same drivetrain I traded in, did great in the summer (I could get 28MPG straight highway going 65MPH on EVIC on long trips).

I keep tires 2-4 lbs above factory recommended, which helps quite a bit.

Also use top grade oil and don't change factory oil too soon.

Correction. I'm getting fantastic MPG on brand new 3.6L.
I forgot 2015 the ECO Button is sticky across starts. And it's been off since I got it. As soon as I turned it on it made a significant improvement.
I could not seem to get above 20MPG with it off. I was at like 17.5MPG and getting worried. I rarely ever saw below 20MPG on the old limited. Just got 25MPG (EVIC) on my commute to work (Rural with plenty of lights, plenty of hills, no highway). That was really babying it though.

Everything I said is still true though.

Can't wait to see how it does on highway in the summer.
My best in the old Limited was 30MPG Highway on a 100 mile trip.
