Re: Need activation code

Well nav has fallen off Jeep Australia has forbidden the dealership from doing the job but I still have the jeep US way of calling one of their dealers and doing it thru the states so that's whats going to happen when I get some spare time. At the moment I'm having words with jeep over the total rubbish that they call a reversing camera Looks like they'll be giving me some services for free

Jase65

That sucks!!

All the best with the US Dealer path.

So Jeep Australia are denying Laredo owners Navigation !! WTF !!

If you get somewhere with a US Dealer please let us know. What's missing if you get activation is the maps files though..unless they also get activated and already exist on the Radio.?!

Jeep Australia really are Grade 'A' @#$%^&*erssss!!!

This could be my first and last Jeep...this ...the camera Debacle.....they don't seem to give a hoot about their customers. There are Australian Jeep GJC Laredo owners that are waiting for 6 months and counting for this rubbish camera. its not the car..its service from Jeep Australia....there is none...

why do they care if Laredo's ask to get their GPS activated.???????

Did you talk to anyone from Jeep Australia about why they stopped the activation by your dealer.

Re: Need activation code

According to Jeep US .....Australian RJ3 Radio won't do navigation...see email below:

Thank you for contacting the U.S. Jeep Customer Assistance Center.

According to our records, your vehicle was equipped from the factory
with the RJ3 Uconnect 8.4 AM/FM/BT radio. This radio is not equipped
with or compatible with navigation software.

Re: Need activation code

Hi TV Sat Nav requires as I understand it, some extra bits and pieces....plus they open up the Head Unit, solder in a ribbon, add the GPS module and do some software upgrades. It is a 3 -4 1/2 hour install and is available for approx $1600 fitted if you negotiate a deal. You definitely can not get NAV on a RA3 by making a phone call to a dealer in the USA.

Dealers in Sydney and Melbourne are doing Laredo Sat Nav upgrades using the Hi Tv product as per the pic shown. There is also a video on Youtube of the Hi Tv Sat Nav upgrade. The Sat Nav is I GO Primo with 3D mapping and all the goodies, that I Go comes with.
Includes reversing camera option also. So may be possible to tell the dealer to put his piece of crap back in stores and get a decent aftermarket camera with fixed grid lines as part of the Sat Nav upgrade.

I told my dealer not to bother about the cheap Jeep camera, lets put a good one in when we do the sat nav. His response was that I would be better off with the Jeep Camera. Sure why not if you have it in stock fit it...I hear people are waiting up to six months to get a camera after they have taken delivery of the GC.

Jeep Dealers doing the upgrade are stating they will warranty the Uconnect even after the invasive upgrade......nothing they have said so far has panned out or rings true. I am appalled at the lack of knowledge about the product they sell, not to mention many have little to no customer service skills.

Case of fingers crossed and hope for the best once signed for.

Cheers,

Rocksfly

Re: Need activation code

I can confirm that your car has all the required hardware required for the inbuilt Nav to work. The only thing missing is the Nav icon in the uconnect which can be activated using an activation code.
This code is unique to each radio and the code changes with every ignition cycle but the interesting thing is that; although the code changes, it will still get the same activation code which is unique to your car.
A warning though, do not attempt to use an activation code from another vehicle or try to punch in a random code because if you use a wrong code a few times (not sure how many times), it will lock the activation and it can never be performed on that radio but there is an expensive way to get it to work again which is even more expensive in comparison to buying the actual activation code from a dealer.
There is a guy on eBay that sell this code, I have used it myself and it worked for me. I also posted it on a thread in this forum sometime earlier this year but people voted the post as a spam because I posted the same thing in Whirlpool and it was deleted. Here is the link mrcasidy | eBay
There is this guy also but am suspecting its the same person as the ebay guy. I think I read about him in an American forum somewhere a long time ago and can't recall the exact forum, I sent him an email and he replied with the below attached file. See the attached file, fill it out and send to uconnect.nav@aol.com, he will reply with further details.

Re: Need activation code

The reason the WP and here were marked as spam was because in both cases they were your first posts and your username was far too similar to the eBay sellers name.
Added to that the eBay ID was new with only 3 lots of feedback, it looked misleading.
If you are the same person just say so, no big deal if not, then apologies.
